Spurs didn't beat Man U for years, even when the ball crossed the line in one match Spurs weren't given it. It's the same now with Arsenal Chelsea, nine meetings without a win. Chelsea just don't go from almost losing at home to Everton to beating Arsenal away unless there's a bogey there. Sorry. Also a London derby, form goes out of the window.
What a twat.

Just got back home from watching the game with a bunch of mates that are Liverpool and United fans. As you can imagine, it was not fun.

God, that was awful. I can't believe how every time we play this ****ing team, we always press the self-destruct button and lose our cool. Every ****ing time. We may as well start the season on -6 points because we never seem to beat these ****s nowadays.

Make no mistake about it - Chelsea are crap. The fact that they won does not change that. They are a very, very poor outfit. We still created chances and had openings even with 10 men, and despite Sanchez being the only real bright spark, they are still rubbish. I actually cannot believe we could not beat the worst Chelsea side for as long as I can remember. How we have managed 0 out of 6 points against them is utterly humiliating and that is an indictment on just how bad we were today and have been for the last month.

It's always easy to say with hindsight, but I personally didn't think Mertesacker should have started today because I knew the pace that Chelsea have up top could cause us problems and the fact that they have players who can play inch-perfect passes, irrespective of their poor form. Flamini starting was a mystery too because he kept vacating his position which meant Ramsey (as poor as he was) was trying to do two jobs at once. Elneny should have started this one, in my view, but whatever.

The fact of the matter is this: we have failed this testing month. Two draws and a loss is piss poor, considering the opposition that we have faced and considering we are supposedly title challengers. There is not a single player on that team except for Sanchez who goes into every game with the belief that they can win it.

Do I think we can win the title? I am tempted to say no because we didn't get the points return that we wanted this month and there are even more difficult fixtures to come that I don't feel the squad is capable of winning because of their brittleness. Southampton next in the league will be tricky, for one.

That being said, the only glimmer of hope that we may possibly have of winning this dreadful league is solely Alexis and Alexis alone. He is a fighter and can carry this pathetic excuse of a team. I'm not holding out hope though. Not in the slightest. Because nothing ever fundamentally changes with Arsenal and that is why I don't think we can be considered favourites for the league. It's City's to lose, in my opinion.
.I'd agree .. but if we do, surely you or Man City would be favourites? :)

Wenger needs to make a special point of highlighting the fact that we've had four red cards in the last 3 meetings with this lot. Its obviously a ploy and something needs to be done to address it. I think Wenger needs to place more mental pressure on referees in the area of decision making, before the next game, when it comes to this issue.

As for Costa, don't care if he scored or not. He has no respect as a professional and he may win everything but will never be looked up to and admired as he lacks class both as a person and a player.

It was definitely a red. Perhaps in the past you've had bad decisions against Chelsea but that doesn't mean Mertesacker shouldn't have walked. I don't see how it could have been a ploy.

What this does highlight is a distinct lack of mental strength. There will always be gamesmanship and at the highest level, its used to gain any advantage. Every team who have won the league have either used it or been able to weather it. The Invincibles were not only able to take it but dish it out at the same time.

Our current team is just too nice at times. I can only imagine that they would lose before they stepped onto the pitch against the Invincibles....

So you know him personally do you?

Ok forget about Costa, what about Fabregas, is he a rat, and a coward?

Fabregas seems a decent enough sort. Don't particularly rate him as a player at the top level any more but I don't think he's done anything on or off the pitch to make him dislikeable. Wasn't Wenger offered him before he went to Chelsea and said no?

Costa is probably a nice bloke off the pitch but I think even even the most diehard Chelsea fan would admit he's a cock on it. Lots of people are different when playing sport. When you do it for a living that must be exacerbated.

I was at game and was very unhappy with decision to take off Giroud as AW should have sacrificed Cambell.
With Merts gone we lost our tallest player for defending set pieces and then AW takes off our second tallest player FFS !
with Giroud off we then had no one to hold the ball up to give midfielders a chance to run on to his lay offs !
if Cambell went we still had 2 ways of playing - using Giroud to hold up play and to get on end of crosses, and also use speed of Theo to get behind their defence.
Without Giroud we could only play one way (Get theo behind) and all Chelsea had to do was sit deep to counter that which is what they did and with 11 men against 10 is very easy to do.
AW made a hash of his tactical switch by taking off Giroud as he is also our top scorer ! So when we inevitably went behind we need a goal scorer but
on the bench we had Ox who hasn't scored in ages and has been poor in recent games, and we had Sanchez returning from injury lay off!

2 points from 9 is not title winning form and every time City drop points so do we

Only reason I asked about Fabregas, is because it seems Chelski fans seem to know him personally, labelling him as a rat and coward.

I don't know him personally of course. If he was one of the players involved in Jose's dismissal then it doesn't show him in a good light, as goes for anyone else involved.

For sure.
He rides a line, when he goes over it, he's a liability, when he straddles it just right, he is a monster of a player.
Today was an example of the latter, our last game at ST was an example of the former.

Still seeing people on Arsenal fan TV saying Per's red card was a mistake <doh>
He missed the ball by a mile and hit only the player. Costa made a meal of it for sure, the double barrel roll was particularly extravagant, but there was no contact with the ball, only the player......99% of modern PL strikers would hit the deck in that situation. And if it had been Terry doing that to Walcott, you know you would have had 55,000 Arsenal fans in the stadium waving imaginary red cards.

That Bully guy on Arsenal TV is ****ing idiot by the way....Moh too.
Claude and Ty are hilarious, but the other two are morons.

Costa's overacting was not appreciated by many.

Having said that my first impression of the incident was that it was a red. I remember Fabregas playing a similar ball to Chamakh in a game against Manchester City a few years ago that resulted in a red card for the City player. It was a similar incident.

When your fullbacks push so high up the pitch that they leave the centre halves isolated, that's not Chelsea's or Costa's fault. For this I blame the idiocy of the Arsenal players and Mertesacker in particular.

With Sanchez and Ozil both predicted to be back, along with a more mobile central midfielder in the middle of the park to stop us getting overrun (Elneny), I wouldn't think this game will follow a pattern similar to the Newcastle game. If that game gives you hope, your results against West Brom, Everton, Leicester, Southampton and Bournemouth certainly give me hope.
Nice to know even in our worst season for a while we can always rely on you
lot for 4 to 6 points.....

Def a red card, definitely a silly challenge by Merts and of course as Costa was touched he was in his rights to go down as it was a foul, though he made a huge meal of it.

He is a massive cock though, give me a Cantona or a Drogba any day of the week...

Wasn't any contact. Watch the replays.
