Not him mate I’ve checkedIs it Derek Foster who stepped in for Monty aged 15 in 1964 and played a few games at the start of that season, then got binned off for selling his 1973 cup final ticket allocation.

. The reason I ask is I have a few pictures of myself in the 60's and 70's that defy identification.
Checked all the responses and googled pics of all the people mentionedHow can you be sure the player hasn't been identified already Vince, just for arguments sake say Peter Shilton. The reason I ask is I have a few pictures of myself in the 60's and 70's that defy identification.

Back then goalkeepers tended to wear green didnt they? Doesnt look like he's wearing green.
Yeh and he could be an opposing playerYes your right, think I remember Peter Wakeman in yellow on occasions but green was the go to in those days, I may be wrong of course but I'm not convinced it is a Sunderland keeper from that era, we didn't have many, once Brown arrived I can only remember three or four, Jimmy Montgomery was such a fixture back then.
Peter Wakeham keeper prior to Jim Montgomery ?
Yo late for PeterPeter Wakeham keeper prior to Jim Montgomery ?
Ha ha haNot sure, but is that young Diane Abbott on the left?
Yeh there is no certainty he is a sunderland player
I think he has he features on
Terry wogan a little
Do you not think ??????
My reply "it's not Monty" was because it is definitely the same era but not him although like another poster mentioned, sometimes you can look quite different in a photo.
My first thought was goalkeeper as is others by the looks.
But here's some questions.
1, was he a goalie ?
2, did he play for Sunderland ?
3, how do you know it is in Sunderland ?
4, was it a charity/celebrity match ?
Could be a celebrity of the day like local broadcaster or such like.
Yeh that’s the point no one knows so he may even be a celebrityAs a child of the late sixties he does look slightly familiar, thats why am wondering if a bit of a celeb at the time and not a footballer so gerrin thrown off the scent![]()
