How can you be sure the player hasn't been identified already Vince, just for arguments sake say Peter Shilton <laugh> . The reason I ask is I have a few pictures of myself in the 60's and 70's that defy identification. :afro:

Yes your right, think I remember Peter Wakeman in yellow on occasions but green was the go to in those days, I may be wrong of course but I'm not convinced it is a Sunderland keeper from that era, we didn't have many, once Brown arrived I can only remember three or four, Jimmy Montgomery was such a fixture back then.

My reply "it's not Monty" was because it is definitely the same era but not him although like another poster mentioned, sometimes you can look quite different in a photo.
My first thought was goalkeeper as is others by the looks.
    But here's some questions.
    1, was he a goalie ?
2, did he play for Sunderland ?
3, how do you know it is in Sunderland ?
    4, was it a charity/celebrity match ?
Could be a celebrity of the day like local broadcaster or such like.

Yeh that’s the point no one knows so he may even be a celebrity
I think he is a footballer but who he played for I don’t know
With the pic been in black and white that makes it more difficult
I was asked earlier were I got the pic from
I now realise it was on Facebook off Syd who used to post on this site
This was a couple of years ago
Sorry that’s the best info I can give
