Dalts has taken a bit of a pop...

Assem Allam's Hull City threat 'empty', says fanzine editor

Hull City fans say they are not concerned by Assem Allam's "empty" threat to stop spending money unless he can change the name of the club.

Owner Allam wants to rename the Premier League side Hull Tigers and told Football Focus he will not continue to fund them unless he can do so.

But supporters have dismissed the 75-year-old Egyptian's vow.

Andy Dalton, editor of the Amber Nectar fanzine, said: "It's an empty threat. It's desperate and sad to see."

Allam, who bought the club when they had financial difficulties in 2010 and says he has since spent more than £70m, lost his original case to switch the name in April and has launched an arbitration against the decision, made by the Football Association. He believes such a change would help the Yorkshire club "go global".

"That [the spending] stops now. It has to stop," Allam added. "I won't pay out if I cannot create income. That is called 'throwing money at it'." But Dalton says fans are not concerned by 75-year-old Allam's comments. "He has made threats like this before," he said. "Previously he said he was going to move the club to Melton (near Hull) if he couldn't buy the KC Stadium. I don't think anyone is terribly troubled by it."

Dalton added that the latest outburst will not help Allam, who says he has put the club up for sale. "It's sad because fans opinion of him seems to go down every time he says something," he said. "People who previously supported him have turned against him following his latest comments."

Mark Gretton, from campaign group City Till We Die, was also relaxed about Allam's vow.

"The club is up for sale so I would be very surprised if Mr Allam was to weaken it while he is looking for a buyer," he said.

"I was surprised that he has made these comments with the arbitration process still going on. However, Mr Allam has a habit of telling the media his feelings so I am not totally surprised."

A verdict from the arbitration is expected in November.

Haha. I love their indifference to it.

I wish I could be that cool about it, but I just want to shake my fist at him and swear.

Yet he's lived in Hull longer than you have. Quite a lot longer than a lot of immigrants (I refuse to call them ex-pats, they're no different to the folks we have coming to the UK, so why call them different like they're special) to other countries too who seem to get all excited about something they chose to bugger off from. I find that funny for some reason. Plenty of us had good reason to move away from Hull, but he didn't, he stayed, and he worked hard, he made something of himself and he's given a huge amount back to the local community.

Bottom line really is, despite the childish, and oft-times nasty name calling done by what is absolutely a minority, he's achieved more and has been more successful in his life, having faced more adversity, by himself, on his own, and done far more for HIS local community than any of you ever will.

Being a gobshite isn't an excuse either, but that doesn't seem to stop you lot. Not one of you lot are even close to being his equal, which is why you all make so much noise and imo you should all be ashamed of yourselves. On the bright side, the other people you lot scorn and sneer at see it differently to you, so at least there's some hope.

Mean while in other news, the fans have decided they've had enough, and have started booing the Anti-Allam ****nuts. This has caused outrage of course within the ranks of CTWD and it's supporters. There are plans to book a back room at the Linnet to arrange a protest against it, as long as it's not on a school night, or when the chippy is open.

I don't think that just because most of the people who post on here aren't rich means that we can't call out a **** when we see one.

I'm not arsed how successful he's been or what money he has, he's acting like a dick and deserves the criticism.

To consider him beyond reproach because of his wealth is just bizarre.

I consider myself a far better person to what I consider him to be. I consider myself to be have made a far greater contribution to society than what he has. So you are right, I am nowhere near his equal, I am far superior to him.

Once again Allam kicks up the dust before a big game. I'm sick of his petulant and moronic press releases.

Who the **** are you to judge what people have and have not achieved? You pretentious twat. I may not be a successful businessman but at least I have the decency to listen to the advice of others and avoid petulant outbursts when I don't get things my way. He's an arrogant bully who is losing the respect he deservedly earned previously.

This must be one of the stupidest posts ever made on this board and that is really saying something. Tigerpants54 went to the trouble of posting the information himself that proves said business isn't in Hull and then said it proves the business is in Hull.

Thinking about this could make one go clinically insane.

It's not being pedantic and it's not being picky - no matter how you look at it Melton is not in Hull. FACT.

A couple of weeks ago I posted that Vaslav had taken being thick to a level I didn't think anybody could achieve. You have undoubtably proved me wrong on that statement by your posting of utter drivel.

You posted on here reasons for changing the name to Hull Tigers 1 + 2. I went to the trouble of posting well reasoned replies ( see post 86 and 111 ) yet you didn't respond, are you a WUM ?
