Actually that's a good point, load gone up on my way into work just before the Black Cat. Average speed ones. On a Sunday the M1 might not be too bad, during the week I hate it from J14 south.

Irrelevant I know but I don't get the idea of an average speed camera.

Speed is an average, how else can it be measured other than as an average based on the distance covered over a certain time?

It actually works. Rather than just making you slow down where a camera actually is there's numerous cameras spread out over a stretch of road and they measure the time it takes you to get between them, so you can't just speed up after you pass a camera.

If people do come down the M1, I'd definitely recommend this, as it avoids the nightmare around Northampton, Luton etc. You can either take the M69 and then the A46 past Coventry, or leave the M1 earlier and take a slightly bigger detour down the M42.

All depends how the M1 is likely to be between 23A and 21. If it looks OK, I'd stay on until 21 and go M69.

Not at the moment, getting round Coventry on the A46/A45 after the M69 is a nightmare because of roadworks, even on a Sunday!

To get from M1 to M40; Take the A43 instead of the M69 and go past Silverstone. There's a McDonalds at a roundabout alongside a BP with M&S Simply Food for a feed before London.
