You should have watched New Zealand v West Indies this week, it may have changed your mind.

I have zero interest in it and don't understand the appeal one bit. Just personal preference, people have mentioned Golf on here but I love watching Golf. Snooker is another I like that many would find boring.

I'm sure it's already been covered on here but VAR, really? Let's just go back to refs/linos making the odd mistake and getting over it. The Lady Roons getting loads of flak for their behaviour in the last 16 game against England but I for one have some sympathy for them. Football just not set up for VAR in it's current format. Will kill the game for the fans who go to matches. VAR exists purely for the armchair fan.

It's the armchair viewer that is king now Chan, they pay the bucks... Although not called VAR watching the cricket be it at the venue or on tv for my mind enhanced the experience when looking at a potential run out, lbw, catch etc. Though I agree with you it just dosn't work at the football...

It works with cricket and tennis Red because the sports (sorry Smokey but cricket is a sport and a great one <laugh>) are a series of little bursts of activity followed by a natural break. Football is totally different and they don't engage the stadium fan with VAR at all. So we'll get to a position in the not to distant future that stadiums will stay largely silent when a goal is scored and we'll wait for the goal to be confirmed. Ridiculous. Also the errors VAR are correcting are in the main not clear and obvious. How can your toe be offside ffs?

On the plus side stewards might now be able to use VAR before deciding whether to sling spectators out for offensive language <whistle>

My god you are pedantic. I know you never said that, I said that to make the point that we don't all like the same things. You don't see UFC as a sport I very much do. Then I used Cricket as my own example which I don't consider a sport, which you clearly do.

You call it pedantic, I call it making an observation that you had changed the subject. The first line of my original post clearly stated what I was moaning about – whether UFC could be considered a sport. By inference, you changed it to whether I think it is a sport or not is dependent upon whether I like it. I think golf is how to ruin a three hour walk in the countryside by taking a bag of sticks and small ball but it is nonetheless considered a sport. I would go and read a book rather than watch golf.

Ok then

Cricket, Formula One and American Football are three sports that send me to sleep.I can understand why some folk on here follow them but each to their own and all that

Americanisation! If that is even a word. Why does Britain allow itself to get sucked in to all things American. In particular, the biggest annoyance to me is Halloween. We never had any interest in Halloween back in the day but now it has become a major event in the UK. Its nonsense and just a way of shops selling weird outfits etc.
The latest one I am beginning to notice is the "Prom". WTF! Nothing wrong in the old 5th year disco was there but now you have to rent/buy your princess a ballgown and hire a stretch limo to get to the event. Its bollocks in my opinion.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the ol 5th year disco Stick. I remember watching ol troupers Torville and Dean perform their Bolero magic on the tv in the sixth form common room.
My daughter had her year 11 prom last year. £200 frock (not worn since) and arrived with her mate in a friend's old Mustang. She was of course late which meant her little brother and I had to watch all the others turn up. All the 16 year old girls would have passed for 20 year olds and all the lads looked like 14 year olds with the hanger still fixed in their Matalan suits. From that respect it was quite enlightening <laugh>. Utter bollox as you say.

Two out of the three I agree with you but American Football I absolutely love, 2nd only to boxing as my favourite sport.

This looks ominous for us today. Another shocker behind the stumps. Butler a destructive batsmen but surely you want your best glove man behind the timbers.

Smokey the thing that annoys me about american football is there seems to be to many breaks between live play, games go on for about four hours! To much padding as well, these tough yanks should be able to take a big hit!I started to like the old baseball when I lived in Boston, went to see the Red Sox play a few times. The thing american gentlemen like to see is lots of scores in their games hence why 'soccer' isnt as popular except for the wee lasses.
