Yet another thread gets dragged into the name change debate. In my simplistic view, the idea is to get some banners made that honour old players and show support for the current team at the same time adding some colour and life to the KC.. On that basis, together with countless other fans, I happily made my donation. Yes, we need a debate on the name change, and there are plenty of other threads on that subject, but that shouldn't mean hijacking every other thread on the forum.

100% agree, supporting the players and manager and now celebrating the players from our past, that is what is at the heart of this and nothing else.
The whole ideal, that a bunch of anonymous posters on an internet forum, have funded banners and now flags is great. It shows that even in times when supporters may be divided in their views, we can still work together to show support.

I don't want to speak for Fez he will be along shortly But i don't think ayone is critising Dutch or Mauled or anyone else for the work they have freely contributed. The critisism is and should be aimed at the club.

Anyway congratulations on achieving your aim of assisting Assem Allem in furthering his strategy of removing all reference to Hull City AFC from the stadium, it appears to be a job well done with what looks like a 20 - 30 banner project. I am sure he will be very grateful to the hooligans for financing his cause.

20 or 30? Given current issues and finances, that'd be great. I think three plus the existing two is more achievable though.

Your list, on the other thread, was well in excess of 20; pie-in-the-sky maybe, but you held a positive view that anything could be challenged; good for you - but what's changed?:

As far where we draw the line, it's simply at the end of the money, and/or mauled's time.
The picture list isn't definitive, chuck some names in to be voted on and let's put Mauled's talents to the test.

Why are you confused, I've given you nothing to be confused about? I believe the banner project would be best left for a while - but you should read back and understand that my view of the project includes all elements; not just the most recently decided 6' x4' versions. The 6' x 4' ones are going to be supporter held so my remarks were about where the bigger ones would be positioned - but yes, I did question what text would be on the 6' x 4' banners - is that unreasonable when you are asking for folk to make donations to them? Is it everyone who is not permitted to ask questions, or just me?

You say you'd support it, IF it had Hull City AFC on it, and you seem clear on how that should look.

I supported the 'In Bruce We Trust' banner by donating towards it; the surplus funding was the spent on the Cobb-Morley banner - not one of my choice but I went with the moment as it seemed pointless not to, The second real phase of this project then took a hold and I gave it nothing more than some reasonable questions. I outlined my concerns of how it could later be construed as a measure of support for the name-change - I hold the view that after having to live through the many months of this bitter exchange between owners and supporters, nothing should be done to afford him any action he could twist as being supportive. I still hold that view.

The change to 6' x 4' has undoubtedly masked the fact that there needs to be owner consent to what is on the banners, it is very convenient, but it does not make the name-change issue disappear, nor does it make the wider banner project any clearer.
I have also pointed out that I believe buying any further banners, without the correct name of the club on them is tantamount to supporting his policy. I suggested a way it could look as it seemed a reasonable thing to do - not just a problem, but a possible solution - just like the stanchions fixings; do you not believe that is reasonable?

Well, your wish is my command. Either alone or with others, you send the cash, we'll provide a banner, and the Club will let it in the ground.

This thread is for donations to support some goodwill from the fans to the players, past and present that have been outstanding for Hull City Football Club.

As far as the topic of this thread goes, the criticism is unwarranted, as the club have been very supportive of the initiative. Believe me, I'd shout if they weren't.

I thought the PayPal button, on the first post was there for that purpose. I asked a simple question which was then responded to and then other conversations started (not mine). You protest far too much as any post that needs assistance stands out like a sore thumb and can be dealt with no bother.

I am sure it will be cobbled into some form of solution the away fans will be expected to accept - the cream of any club's support have already been sold short. It is especially sweet for him (Allam) as some supporters - some anti-name -change supporters, amongst others - are now going to fund his in-stadium banners - all in a style that satisfies his corporate tragedy. I can understand the pro-name-changers, and even the fence-sitters, sucking up to this project, but anti-name-changers really do need to take a check-pace and reconsider how their enthusiasm is misplaced at this particular time in the club's history. Either that or re-evaluate just how much they are anti-name-change. Everyone is cozying up with each other, which under normal circumstances would be terrific, but we still have the dark cloud of a malignant owner hanging over us.

You can have a flag with Hull City AFC on it. I've given you several options on how that can be done.

I've lost count of the number of different ways I've explained to you that we can put what we want on our flags. You offered your thoughts during the discussion, and people chose what they preferred rather than your suggestion which was to have no banners supporting the team

There is currently no requirement to match a 'corporate strategy'. What we are determined to do, is simply support the team, and let the name change debate be handled by those in a better position.

One minor issue for consideration.

There have been understandable issues finding a home for the two large flags, which have now been resolved as best they can. So dropping to the 6x4 flags is a smart move.

But if I have read the threads right, there is nowhere identified for these smaller 6x4 flags to be displayed either. Is that likely to result in a flashpoint when they get draped over other people's seats or over advertising sites? I've recently had a complaint from a fan raised with me, about his banner being removed by stewards when it only partially obscured an advert at the KC - are we not risking heading in the same direction with these banners if we have no certainty about how they will be displayed on match day?

I'm sorry to raise a question without offering a solution, but it is perhaps a matter worthy of some thought.

DMD if it really is possible to have what we want on a banner in the stadium, here is an offer for you.

I am prepared to pay the whole cost of a banner which reads WE ARE HULL CITY if this banner could replace the Steve Bruce one for one home game this season.

Edit should have said a banner the same dimensions as the Steve Bruce one. As i already know i can take a banner / flag up 6 x 4 into the ground with whatever i want on it ( within the existing rules )

I'm sorry to raise a question without offering a solution, but it is perhaps a matter worthy of some thought.

It will be interesting to see how the management of the stewards react to this initiative; as there will be nothing contentious on the flags, like Hull City AFC, it is a grand opportunity for the club to gain brownie points and make sure they are seen to be supportive.
