I have a friend who is a Leeds fan and he doesn't rate Johnson at all, says he pops up with the odd great goal but generally doesn't contribute much to the team and also thinks he is a much better player than he actually is. In short he would be glad to see the back of him.
Stoke and Everton are allegedly both planning bids for Snodgrass, I'll be amazed if he's still at Leeds next season.
The Leeds fan thought he was a good player, then he refused to sign a new contract and they all started slagging him off, I wouldn't read too much into it.
My mentioning his name was COMPLETELY tongue in cheek. He is definitely good enough for the Premiership and I too would be amazed if he is playing for the Shyte next season.
Snodgrass isn't out of contract this summer and I wouldn't be pissed at all if you took Johnson. Sounds like the price on Snoddy's head is ã5m and while he's talented, I realistically see Everton, Stoke, Villa et al. spending that on someone foreign and cheaper if they're looking to get a winger for that price. As for Johnson, he's played the majority of games in central midfield; we've played a 4-2-3-1 of which he was part of the '2' with Kilkenny and Snodgrass and Gradel out on the wings either side of Howson. Bradley's definitely not someone I'd play as a winger full time, unless in a 4-4-2 diamond thing. When played in central mid, he gets around but he's clearly a limited footballer. Like a box to box player I suppose but with no real intelligence in his tackling, passing and shooting. Sometimes he pulls off moments of brilliance but most of the time, he will get beaten by the opposition, blast his shots over the bar (a running joke at Elland Road) and his passing is often unrealistic and intercepted. Leeds and Hull could do better. And worse, I suppose. He'd be alright as backup for either side.
I think we still need 2 goalies, 2 centre backs, an entire new midfield 4 since Garcia has ****ed his knee and a target man. So that'd be 9 more.
The article in the Mail said City would be apart from the two just come in we would be getting free agents. Mannone, Ayala and Hobbs are not free are they? Does that mean we are not going to attempt to sign these three
Ayala has still got a year to go on his contract, but from an interview on humberside b4 the boro game I believe with A Pearson, it sounded like we were talking to Liverpool about acquiring him.
It quote's Pearson as saying,"most of the players' we are after,.......... are Bosman's"! Which will still leave Loan players' to come in, which (IMO) we will use to "bed-in" the players we want to turn into purchases for the following season.
Ayala has another year to run on his contract, so both he and Hobbs(or Gerrard) would cost money. The article doesn't say we won't pay for any of the targets, it just says the majority will be Bosman's.
Nice one,OLM, I meant to mention about it not saying we could pay for the odd player in my last post.
He's a trier, I'll give him that. But for all his running about, he generally doesn't get a lot done.
I was thinking the same, except they say Johnson scores a goal every now and then, and can pop up with a piece of magic. That's more than Dean Marney could ever manage...
Johnson is a fat lump with a good long shot. People will see his goals on TV and think he's a good player, but he's really not that good at all. We shouldn't sign him.
Bradley Johnson is clearly a talented footballer but his impact on a game can be minimal and it happens so often over the course of a season it makes him nowhere near the player he probably could be.
