I turned off before Lewis crossed the line, so glad I missed the Beiber moment, F1 is going down the pan already we don't need association with a bogan tosser like him.
Substantial rumours that Kimi Raikkonen will be replaced by Sergio Perez. Announcement at the Canadian Grand Prix. Sergio's father has 'big news'.
Montreal - Sergio Perez's father has triggered wild speculation about the next high-profile news in Formula 1. Ilta Sanomat, a Finnish daily, said it has heard from Mexican sources that Perez's father Antonio has declared that big news is looming ahead of the Canadian grand prix this week (June 12). The report declared: "It is rumoured that (Sergio) Perez could move to Ferrari very soon or later this season, taking Kimi Raikkonen's place." Heineken as major sponsor However, Antonio Perez's declarations are more likely to tie in with rumours that the Dutch beer giant Heineken is set to announce a major sponsorship with the F1 group of companies within the next few days. Force India has been linked with a reported Heineken team sponsorship deal. Read: Perez - Up and ready for a big move in F1 Interestingly, Heineken owns 42% of Vijay Mallya's drinks empire United Breweries, with Force India co-owner and boss Mallya's share down to just 32%. Heineken said recently it was "following developments" in the Mallya saga, amid the former Indian billionaire's collapsed airline Kingfisher and his legal troubles. A Heineken spokesperson had said: "We have been following developments in the Indian press recently. But we would not comment at this stage."
Wow, so Kimi potentially to be sacked for the second time by Ferrari. Has anyone been sacked twice by the same team mid-season!? What then for Raikkonen, will another team realistically take him on with his high salary/poor motivation issues that seem to carry him around? Does Kimi care!? He has money, cigarettes and alcohol to see him through his post-F1 life!
I can't see that Kimi warrants sacking now, or that Ferrari has suffered because of him - they simply aren't as good as they need to be and strategy/reliability has cost them more points. In relation to replacements, why Perez - is he really the type of driver they need/want?
Usual Ferrari though. A sequence of stumbling from one odd decision to another. They need to just concentrate on getting the car straight right now. I wonder what the payout for Kimi will be this time if it's true.
Im interested as to the reason, and where he will go after. Need to remember this is just speculation yet
Sounds like a good move for all parties, harsh on Massa though assuming he's getting the boot. That or Williams expect Bottas to be snapped up, but that seems unlikely.
Given the way Rosberg delivered for them, when their lead driver dropped the ball this weekend, Mercedes have been very reserved in their praise for him. Possible sign they are trying not to give him any power in the contract negotiation?
Supposedly a 2 year deal on the table for Nico which I think would tie in with Lewis? Not sure why Merc would want both drivers contracts ending in the same year. However, Merc have been quoted as saying its a long way from being finalised - this seems strange to be dragging on.
Nothing will be a surprise will it, I doubt Nico will move. He is ingrained into Mercedes Benz Motorsport.
Wasn't Perez part of the Ferrari driver program when he was with Sauber? He's certainly being doing the business lately, whilst Raikonnen only seems to turn up here and there.
