Some very silly comments on this thread.

Chezza cost us next to **** all.

He was the ultimate professional.

He was outstanding for the vast majority of games he played for us.

He loved living in the area and never had a bad word to say about Hull.

His family and girlfriend loved the area and never had a bad word to say about Hull.

He never asked for a transfer and could have got a higher wage at Leicester but had agreed a deal with WBA as he thought going to Leicester might piss City fans off.

In short he had integrity.

He was one of the best centre halves to play for this club in my lifetime.

We couldn't even be arsed to sing his name. Shame on me and shame on you.

Our club made over £7 million on his transfer.

Most of all shame on the deluded ****s who feel the need to disrespect a true gent, a great player and a loyal servant to our club.

****ing idiots.
100% spot on !!

On the ****ing button Carmine.

Too bad some people will still call you a deluded idiot for saying such things though. The fact these people call themselves fans is questionable.

West Brom will reject offers for unsettled defender James Chester

Tony Pulis meets £8million summer signing for talks after slow start to his Albion career

Tony Pulis will reject any bids for West Bromwich Albion's £8million defender James Chester in January.

Pulis met with Chester for talks on Monday after the unsettled summer signing admitted his frustration over a lack of first-team chances.

Chester has only started one Premier League game since his move from Hull City in July and suggested that he will consider his future when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

The Wales international fears his hopes of appearing at Euro 2016 for Chris Coleman's squad will be damaged by his struggles to nail down a place at the Hawthorns.

But Pulis will turn down any offers for the 26-year-old and insists he is not for sale.

He said: "James wants to play and I understand that but he's a very important member of the squad.

"I've spoken with him and he's absolutely fine. There are no problems and we are looking forward to this weekend's game against Arsenal."

Chester is West Brom's most expensive signing for a defender but has struggled to force his way into a back four that has kept the most clean sheets of any Premier League team this year.

He will have his day at some point this season; he's got to make sure he takes it.

As much as I think Pulis is a football dinosaur, and stand by the fact that Chester is their best defender..... Most clean sheets in the PL suggests that their back 4 is doing a cracking job. I just can't get my head round why Pulis wanted him? It just doesn't fit.

I don't really understand all the fuss over this. We accepted £8m for Chester which was an offer that we would have been daft to turn down at the time for a player who would currently be our third choice Centre half (behind Dawson and Davies) with Bruce and Maguire also available. He's a good lad but is no longer our player so let's move on.

You can't say he would currently be our third choice, as odds are we would have started with him & Dawson, meaning Davies would have either left or not played.

Chester would be ahead of Davies this season, Davies was poor at times in the Prem whereas Chester looked accomplished, if he hadn't got injured we would have stayed up in my opinion.

A fine post, it's a shame so many of our fans took Chester for granted, the lad was a purring Rolls Royce of a defender

It is all a matter of opinion - but Davies was always ahead of Chester in Steve Bruce's eyes when Davies was at the top of his game & this season I reckon we've seen Davies back to his best which is why I think Chester would have been third choice. It's all pretty hypothetical, however, as Chester is no longer our player.

You've made that up .......... Davies was on the naughty step last season, CD was behind both Chester and his (SB's obv) lad.

I don't know the ins and outs of the situation, he certainly wasn't ahead of Chester in the pecking order, that is a FACT (as some say).
He'd pissed SB off I think? But on form id pick Davies over Chester! Selling Chester was very good business for everyone involved!

If you read what I actually said you'll see your error. Davies is back to his best this year and when he was previously at his best, he was picked ahead of Chester by Steve Bruce.
