TBH I'm sure the club aren't just sitting on their hands.

There are good strikers, in the PL, who didn't cost a fortune.

Now we're operating in Europe, and attracting good signings and loans, it eases the situation.

Stewart seems to be doing a Denver Hume and I don't like it tbh.

My opinion is if he was going to sign he would've done it by now. If he fancies following Neil to Stoke then go but he will be missing out on being part of the best side playing some of the best football

From my personal experience, every time I've had an encounter with Wigan fans, I came away with negative experience afterwards. No threats or violence, I just found the fans a strange, narrow minded, chip on the shoulder, insular, stubborn and opinionated bunch. The first time was about 20 years ago when they had Roberts and Ellington playing for them. Every time since I've encountered them I've found them odd and just reinforced my opinion on them. It almost feels like they decided to make us a rival for some weird reason only they know, and we've responded to it. Then I add in Dave Whelan commenting on things involving other clubs, when really it had nothing to do with him. Then top it off with that horrible knobhead McLean and his obsession about us and goading us and frankly you end up with a team I really can't stand and have a laugh at them failing.
Years ago in here we had a poster who had a connection to Wigan and we were his second team apparently.
He used to come on here with strange observations at times and he eventually got on my tits so took him to task which is something I don't normally do and got peltters on here for it, things like leave him be he's entitled to his opinion etc.
Anyway after a while he stopped posting altogether, he was just strange imo, seemed to typify their fanbase.
Seemed to fit what your alluding too CMB.

For what its worth, I think if we sign Michut on a permanent, we could well sell Matete on, or even loan him out again, agree it is a bit harsh on Matete, but we are so well covered in young exciting midfield players , we cant play them all , and they all need to be playing.
Surely Plymouth would be eyeing up a deal for him? Ideal for all involved for me

Just for balance my eldest's boyfriend is a Wigan supporter - good lad, very down to earth and a true supporter - he is gutted ( I was in Whelans bar at the ground with him before this year's game and had no issues. He enjoys coming to see us play mind!!

OK, I tried to avoid saying it but I'm growing bored with this Ross Stewart situation tbh.

He's a good player but I don't think he's PL standard.

He often has a poor first touch and doesn't strike the ball cleanly enough imo.

I've enjoyed the way we've played without him and I'd be happy to sign a good striker, preferably two, who are quick and fit into our current style.

If he's become too big for his boots, as I think's the case, then I'd be happy to see us cash in.

Our team spirit is amazing and, from what I saw yesterday, he doesn't seem to share it.

He may have been sad for himself yesterday but that's no excuse, other injured players managed some enthusiasm and are important ...

... it's not all about Ross Stewart.

Either commit to the club or f**k off.

There, I've said it.

Yep. More or less what I was getting at earlier, just a bit more to the point!

I still do think though, he is listening to bad advice. If I was on a treatment table, nursing a very bad injury which is notoriously hard to fully repair, I'd have signed the day after it happened. And if I was advising him, I'd be telling him to.

Home campaign? Or is that because they win the Alex Neil trophy by beating us that makes it a successful away campaign??

Love to see him sacked. But, then again, so would most Stoke fans

I know someone who goes there occasionally. Neil has not gone down well there and the atmosphere there for home games is awful according to him.

Ce la vie. Bullet dodged, I'd say.

I'd like to see more of Matete - hopefully playing most weeks at Plymouth (although I note he's not been starting of late) will have done him the world of good.
Think Ba and possibly Ekwah could benefit from a loan next season - having said that, you can see Ekwah improving every week

Thought Ekwah had his best game so far yesterday.

Agree with most of that. But I do think he’s PL standard personality. Fully fit he’s better, imo, than any other striker in our division. And he will get better too.

but, as you say, either commit or get out, we don’t need any prima donnas

I thought Ekwah was very good yesterday and deserved his start
I hope he is big for us next season
Strange that some idiot on twitter, who, I guess, made his mind up after 24 minutes of seeing him trying to get to grips with his first real season, slagged him off. Used a line akin to “never make a footballer as long as I have a hole in my arse” type comment.
Thought he was excellent yesterday. Understood Mowbray’s decision to sub him to go fir it too. Made perfect sense.

I agree , bored with it now, we’ve managed perfectly well with this young team and all the injuries this season so we will be better next season wether he’s here or not.

Think people are forgetting how good a player he is mind. Scores and presses from the front. We would have breezed into he play offs with him fit. His goal scoring record to minutes played his unbelievable.

Not to mention his help in our own box from set plays. He gives us that option to go long and get players around him, runs the channels too.

Let's not let the contract situation cloud judgement of ability.

If his head was turned by AN and promise of a big pay day at Stoke he must have given up on that by now. My guess is he’s hoping for a chance with one of the promoted sides or holding out us to be able to offer more cash at end of season?

Not in my case ...

... but I do think people overestimate how good he is.

I don’t think anyone forgets how good of a player Stewart has been for us, but what is patently obvious to me is that if he refuses to sign a new contract the club will want to cash in on him.

What would be a wrong is the club allowing him to go for nothing having run his contract down

True
I think he is proving himself more now each week
