Just one 1 on Stewart and he's seemingly slapped ares face. For me, he will be absolutely gutted that he has missed out on best part of an absolute cracking season. He may be suffering mentally from what's happened to him. Like everyone else in any walk of life, he knows that with his skill and natural goal scoring, he'll have looked at games we've lost and drawn and probably thought "I'd have scored that chance" to turn a loss into a draw and a draw into a win and possibly finished further up the table..Who knows.

Although and probably speak for 95% of all our fans. I'd love him to stay and sign a new contract but if not I hope we get a much as we can for him and then get 2/3 forwards in the summer. And I'd take Gelhardt back .

Tony Mowbray suffered a hamstring injury celebrating Patrick Roberts' equaliser yesterday. But he's glad the team are still in the play-off picture, and they know what they need to do at Preston now...

    CLARITY

"We have real clarity now, we have to go and win at Preston. The teams around us have tough games on paper so you never know - we have to go there and win, we have to be aggressive right from the off and then see what happens. I'm pretty relaxed about it, we've given ourselves a really good opportunity on the last day of the season and we'll take a huge crowd there with us. We're going to take 6,000 fans there, and let's hope at the end it is a big party."

    DESERVED A DRAW

We deserved something out of the game. We talked about playing the match in front of us and not the occasion. It's an experience I think and I think they have to go through games like today. The fans were amazing, they stuck with the team and kept them going."

    LIFE EXPERIENCES

"Like anything in life, you have to live the experience to get better and stronger and I think this team will do that. They are getting used to the challenge of playing here. I enjoyed the game today, I didn't enjoy the two goals going in our net but I thought we stuck at what we're good at, we moved the ball across the pitch and tried to cut through them. Late on, we got enough bodies in the box and we got our reward."

    PRIDE

"I've told the players how proud I am of the effort they give me every game, and I hope the supporters enjoy watching them work hard and trying to play football with the ball. They need support and they get that, I feel it's a good place. We're already looking forward to next week. I'm proud of the way they keep going, and you have to be proud of how quickly they're learning."

    ANOTHER INJURED CENTRE HALF!

"I'm sitting here in a bit of a discomfort, I think I've got a hamstring injury. I've never had one of these in 18 years of playing because I was never fast enough, and yet when that goal goes in I've obviously moved a bit quickly. Our treatment room is pretty full but I'll have to try and grab a physio. I don't know if I'll be fit next week, but I will be there."

    CONCEDING FROM CORNERS

"Without over-highlighting it, that was a real issue for us. We did amazingly well at West Brom to keep them out [from set-pieces last weekend], because I said at the end there they seemed to be bringing on the Harlem Globetrotters at the end - everyone that came on was 6ft 5in - yet we still managed to see that out. Today we didn't quite deal with Watford's set-plays."

    ACHILLES HEEL

"We know it's an Achilles heel without Ballard and without Batth and Alese and Ross Stewart - there's four players that would definitely help that scenario, but they are not available. It's difficult when they've got big, aggressive, guys who make a living by heading balls."

    LOAD THE BOX

"Someone there in my office just said 'have you thought about putting two players up the pitch?' but my view on that is that the more space you give big guys to run into, the more dangerous they become because the more likely they are to win headers. I try to fill the box up with loads of bodies so they can't get a clear run."

    PATIENCE

"They damaged us a bit today on set-plays and yet we kept on going to the very death and got our rewards. We showed reasonable patience at the end, we were flooding the box in the last 20 minutes."

    ROBERTS

"And then Pat Roberts is a guy I've said I couldn't believe when I first came to this club that he had been playing in League One, and he does what he does. He's an amazing footballer and cometh the hour, cometh the man, really. He had one in the first half that he just didn't get his toe around that could easily have bent in off the far post, but then when we needed him right at the death he put one in the top corner."

Wigan somehow managed to become hated by many Sunderland supporters, shame.

The club has become edgy, the players seem to have a chip on their shoulders and the fans delighted in telling us where our club was going wrong.

Throw the idiot :bandit: into the mix, the fact that the owners seem like a bunch of cheats and the shyte location and I'm glad they've gone ...

... another relegation wouldn't upset me too much either <party>

Yeah, totally agree. He gives me a heart attack at least once a game with his passing.
Got to say though, he seems totally unfazed when he makes a mistake - just shrugs it off and moves on. That's an excellent quality for a young lad

Lad that sits next to me at Morecambe is a Manure fan gies to all the away games apparently.
He was asking how Amad had been doing and we had a good chat.
He then reeled off four players who were ahead of him in his position and didn’t think he’d make first team next season and another loan made sense.
We’ll have to wait and see how this all pans out but think he’s in the final saloon for us sadly.

OK, I tried to avoid saying it but I'm growing bored with this Ross Stewart situation tbh.

    He's a good player but I don't think he's PL standard.

He often has a poor first touch and doesn't strike the ball cleanly enough imo.

I've enjoyed the way we've played without him and I'd be happy to sign a good striker, preferably two, who are quick and fit into our current style.

If he's become too big for his boots, as I think's the case, then I'd be happy to see us cash in.

Our team spirit is amazing and, from what I saw yesterday, he doesn't seem to share it.

He may have been sad for himself yesterday but that's no excuse, other injured players managed some enthusiasm and are important ...

... it's not all about Ross Stewart.

Either commit to the club or f**k off.

    There, I've said it.

Don’t disagree Smug no matter how I’d hate to lose him no one is irreplaceable and we’ve coped pretty well without him for three quarters of the season.
If he goes we move on and find a replacement simple as that.

Fingers and toes crossed Marcus. I don't think he will leave in the summer but if he doesn't sign a new contract I think we will extend the existing one and sell him.

We can extend his contract by a year, but I'm struggling to see who'll buy him (who are in a better position than us), if he does want to go, until he has proven his fitness again.

But yeah, nobody is irreplaceable, I'm just wondering how much it will cost to do so

Well there is no getting away from the fact we have had long enough to scout 1 or 2 replacements this time. Just in the event he does leave. Hopefully not and comes back fully fit and raring to go.

TBH I'm sure the club aren't just sitting on their hands.

There are good strikers, in the PL, who didn't cost a fortune.

Now we're operating in Europe, and attracting good signings and loans, it eases the situation.

Stewart seems to be doing a Denver Hume and I don't like it tbh.

From my personal experience, every time I've had an encounter with Wigan fans, I came away with negative experience afterwards. No threats or violence, I just found the fans a strange, narrow minded, chip on the shoulder, insular, stubborn and opinionated bunch. The first time was about 20 years ago when they had Roberts and Ellington playing for them. Every time since I've encountered them I've found them odd and just reinforced my opinion on them. It almost feels like they decided to make us a rival for some weird reason only they know, and we've responded to it. Then I add in Dave Whelan commenting on things involving other clubs, when really it had nothing to do with him. Then top it off with that horrible knobhead McLean and his obsession about us and goading us and frankly you end up with a team I really can't stand and have a laugh at them failing.

For what its worth, I think if we sign Michut on a permanent, we could well sell Matete on, or even loan him out again, agree it is a bit harsh on Matete, but we are so well covered in young exciting midfield players , we cant play them all , and they all need to be playing.
