I do think we have some good players in the squad. Two of the younger ones, Hume and Diamond will get better as they play more games.
We have enough decent enough players to cover the back four. Although personally I have doubts about the keepers.

Midfield...hmm, I am 68 and I may well be quicker than Leads, but in his favour I reckon he is the best passer of the ball and I reckon should take most of the free kicks and corners. Power, Scowen, etc run around a lot, but somebody in midfield needs to score goals, Scowen misses a lot of chances but at least he has run into good positions, a plus for him as the CFs struggle to anticipate where the ball might go.

I think there is general agreement that with Wyke the pick of a bad lot we have poor strikers.

Watching last night I wondered if that is what Mcgeady and Diamond have decided as they seem to like to pass and run off each other and miss out the carthorses in the middle.

So strikers, creative midfielder and probably a keeper.

With a proven goalscorer i'm pretty confident we can shoot up this league, our squad is as good as anyone's...Shame we didn't take a punt on Shankland when we had a chance .....but, is there is there another proven goalscorer around ?? I assume a lot of clubs are looking for the same thing

Good goal last night from Shankland for Dundee.

I think Kyril Louis Dreyfus is going to make a legacy for himself and become one of the greats in the game. Has there ever been an owner so young / an owner being hailed for there career in football ownership not management/playing?
I sincerely hope you are right !

. How many corners do we take that don’t get past the first defender, no wonder we hardly ever score from corners

I can remember the roar, from the Fulwell End, when we'd get corners ...

... these days a 'dead ball' means exactly that.

You're right, it needs sorting out.
It wasn't just corners mate, when I started going to roker park in 1987 ( I know what a season that turned into) it was whenever the ball was played out wide in the opponents half the volume went up 10 fold, you always thought something could happen

There used to be a chant go up "OOh it's a corner, OOh it's a corner" <laugh> Now no one gives a toss, because we invariably hit the first man or over hit to the back with no one there.

I can confirm this mind. I know someone who has been told he'll be involved in this. He is doing some prep now for it along with his other work. He was comfortable telling me as he says they will want it known anyway that this is happening.

there is such thing as flexible furlough now though , if they are only claiming for hours he is unable to work then there isn't an issue

I think a lot will depend on who he brings in, I think its pretty obvious what we have probably isn't good enough. I don't think he needs a complete overhaul though.
Obviously a striker is a must and a little bit more creativity, I'd still love Neil be given more of a chance, he proved last night and in pre season he is the one player we have that can play that pass that splits the defence open. But I'm not writing the season off as you say 3 points off the play offs and if he does bring in a couple more plays capable of his style of play you never know maybe just maybe
I agree it isn't going to take much to make us competitive and start winning games as we are actually hard to beat. I just can't see how we can't get better with good coaching and training as PP obviously didn't have a clue on how to set up the team. I'm actually looking forward to the rest of the season.

i don't think that's exclusive to us, I'm sure I've read in the past that teams are so effective defensively from corners now that you're more likely to concede from a corner than score from one.
