I saw this on MFW earlier and it pretty much sums up how I feel the transfer has gone - 'The squad does look refreshed and strengthened in all the key areas, with the possible exception of goalkeeper. Will Farke now be able to find the right blend? Everyone knows how important it’ll be to start the league campaign well, and our early fixtures are challenging ones.'

I'm PROBABLY still not fully awake, but 'reading between the lines' of this article, we COULD see DF playing with 2 strikers occasionally - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-pukki-farke-seal-of-approval-1-5609780

Certainly the strikers will be the key to a better performance next season, but the passing was also much sharper and Pukki's ability to pick the ball up early and then use his quick feet to beat defenders and the score is something we've been missing. This also from the pinkun,:

These may well be key elements in an improved season, but can i be done against better teams in the championship? Last pre-season there were plenty of signs of promise but did we deliver in the championship, not really. Lets see Pukki use those quick feet in anger against an angry championship clogger before saying he was what was missing last season. We were all happy that we kept Nelson afterall!

Bah!

Too right. Paderborn is hardly the same test as a well-drilled Derby or Middlesbrough. He needs to prove how "quick his feet" are in the heat of battle, not in half paced pre-season games. <ok>
I do hope he's the answer but it's far too early to say with any justified conviction that he is.

2 each for Idah and Spyrou, as our U23's lead their Dortmund counterparts 4-0 approaching the break.

Of course pre-season games are never equivalent to regular season games, but they are the only indicator we have at this stage. To come back from two goals down to win was at least encouraging and some credit also goes to DF for his half-time talk.

Also, if all else fails, Idah and Spyrou can join the fray! <laugh>

I'm longing to see Idah playing for the Under 23s!!!

MUST be something wrong - DF STARTING with two strikers!!! <yikes>
CITY (starting XI): Matthews, Marshall, Klose, Godfrey, Aarons, Thompson, Passlack, McLean, Cantwell, Pukki, Rhodes. Subs: McGovern (GK), Husband, Zimmermann, Leitner, Wildschut, Raggett, Hernandez, Srbeny

Edit - PD's reply when a fan asked if McLean was similar to JM - 'Not for me. A bit more physical and hopefully has an even better goalscoring touch given his output at Aberdeen'

First Berlin goal a long ball upfield, Matthews left it to defenders, defenders left it to Matthews. Striker takes advantage of indecision to score. A settled, first choice keeper needs to be established, Matthews or another.

AND a settled, first choice defence!!!!! <ok>

Cant see us buying a keeper. I'd go Mathews, really like the look of him.

If you want to trust 3rd division German players, then why not trust a promising youngster from the academy, like with Lewis.

Yes, it's risky and might not work. But same as some of our new signings, and same as the last seasons signings. Some work, many don't. But if we are going cheap, there's no cheaper than the academy. I'd rather Mathews than buy a 3rd division German GK.
