Quote of the day "Football was the first Rock and Roll" radio 4 this morning on the excellent Melvin Bragg series Northern Matters.

Thanks Bri, I wont believe a word they say again. <laugh>

As far as I can see the Jolly Boys never covered it. At least they're not credited.

Louis Prima, Bing Crosby ,Doris Day, The Supremes, Prince Buster and the Specials are credited with covering a version but can find anything from the Jolly Boys ever recording it.

I covered it in Monaco one night, in 2006 when I karaoke'd it to smithereens ...... I'm sure they still talk about it <party>

The North Koreans were supported by Chinese troops in massive numbers I believe.
You are quite correct but the Chinese came into the Korean war quite late on.
There's a brilliant film about it if you can put up with subtitles called Taegukgi, (Brotherhood of War)
The south thought they were home & dry until the Chinese came into the equation.

I've just watched a swimming race at the paralympics, and two of the racers had no arms, they finished 2nd and 3rd. It was amazing to watch them move through the water. The winner only won, because he got to reach for the finish, with his arms. I don't see how that's fair, like.

I have been humbled by the levels of performance of these athletes, some with with severe disabilities..

Long jump, one legged people springing off their prosthetic instead of their real leg. Whats the point then?

I think this is inspiring and could lead to a whole series of Olympic games, for differently abled people.

Obviously this would need funding and appropriate sponsorship would help.

As an example there could be the 'I can't believe he's not bigger' Olympics for dwarfs & midgets.

The possibilities are endless .......
