He does play mate, he's played the last few games. I thought he had gave it up to concentrate on his coaching career at Sunderland.

I was wrong. South Shields regularly get attendances over 1,000. They got 1,400 the other week. I've never known anything like it for a team that low down. They get more than some clubs in the conference. They get more than Salford FC and they have the Manchester legends at that club.

It's amazing what football can do to people in this part of the country.

That's an amazing attendance, I bet they have a good atmosphere going on there. I wonder if the high turnout is partly down to Arca.

Hoolioooooo was one of the favourites to become the new manager when the last one was dismissed recently, but ex North Shields manager Graham Fenton, and Lee Picton, were given the job jointly last weekend.

Their first match in charge, on tuesday, saw them beat Washington 3-1 and they are now joint top of the league (with North Shields, ironically) after their 5th win in a row . . . . and yes, Comm., Hoolioooooo's class does show (including a superb ball from him that set up the first goal against The Mechanics) :emoticon-0105-wink:

Ben Clark (yes him) was injured in this match and will probably not play against Ryhope C.W. (who were promoted to the top division with The Mariners last season) today.

Ryhope usually play well against 'Sheels and this should be a really good, and well supported, game <cheers>

Loved the version you posted, it takes me back to my first short lived record collection.
I inherited it from an uncle in the late 40's, who having just been married was issued with an ultimatum by his new bride, that it was her, or his music, that had to go. And to my delight and lasting gain, he chose the latter. So I was the lucky recipient of two dozen records, a windy up HMV record player and a large supply of needles.
The records were an eclectic assembly covering jazz, blues and negro spirituals, and strangely amongst others included Bing Crosby singing Mcnamara's Band and Artie Shaws Begin the Beguine, these two were to become firm favourites, but my enthusiasm was not apparently shared by all. I was only six or seven at the time, and on my walk to and from school passed a few second hand shops which were landmarks for pennyless window gazers, peering into one such Aladdins Cave (Jamiesons) I was surprised to see a very similar sound system to my own, proudly taking the center stage. And imagine my surprise and disappointment when arriving home, to be told that Uncle Sam (yes his real name) had popped in and reclaimed his legacy. It was some time afterwards that the truth dawned, and that my taste, and that of my uncles, was not universal.

NB I cant put up attachments but another classic included in this collection was Stone Cold Dead in the Market, I have just looked it up and it was by Louise Jordan and Ella Fitzgerald. Like many of these songs they originated in the Carribean, so the Specials,Madness et al go a long way back. Another, very good exponent of this earlier style, in recent years imo. was August Darnell (Kid Creole and his Coconuts). Not sure about Smug tho. <laugh>

You have fine taste in music sir. I love a jazz and swing, blues, throw in some dancehall undertones. Black music upto the 60 was out standing. 4 bar stride piano, raw horn sections. I love it me.

Here's the tune you were after, funny song!

How are you with boogie blues?

Ryhope went 1-0 up after 2 mins. South Shields equalised soon after, then Arca scored to make it 2-1. Arca has also gone off injured since then.

HT: South Shields 2 - 1 Ryhope CW.

Is it a bird. Is it a plane?

    No its a

skydiver has died after her parachute failed to open during a jump and she landed on a parked car.

Witnesses said the 49-year-old was "spinning like a top" before she crashed at about 3.45pm on Saturday in Shotton Colliery, Co Durham.

The victim had made parachute jumps before but not in the UK, and was using her own equipment.

She hit a hatchback in a cul-de-sac close to the airfield, and residents performed CPR before paramedics arrived.
