The task now is to get Hernandez to extend his contract and get him up for it again. His performance and body language wasn't good yesterday suggesting he was aware the Villa route was closed. I can't remember how long he has left on his current deal, but turning down £20million will be a bitter pill if he walks away for nowt.
Could have suggested that a) it was a thankless task he had, up against often 4 defenders on his own b) balls hit to him at head height being difficult to control / win c) he was knackered having to continue doing that almost all game. + just a little bit of pissed off - ness that Villa might have been in for him.

Agreed, but the whole Villa saga suggests Hernandez and his agent aren't bound by loyalty to a club. They could see the Bosman route as their best option now and if he is successful this season his value could sky-rocket.
Agree. The only positives from this is that he is still ours and it is some show of intent from the owners. Agree about the loyalty* bit. Hernandez gave some interview in an Italian magazine months ago about wanting to do well here but hoping to move onto bigger clubs and end his career at Palma. So it's not any surprise that he does have other ambitions. However Aston Villa don't really fit into that and I don't see why he would have agreed to it anyway. So this always seemed dead in the water.
Didn't an interview surface last week from his homeland that basically translated to "Why the **** would I want to go play for Aston Villa? They're **** & as it's in Birmingham it'll full of thick Brummie ****s. I personally like the way Mike Phelan has us playing. We do seem to be playing differently to under Steve Bruce and I think he deserves to become our permanent manager. I do agree with Cityman three games is way too early to count our chickens. We had some great performances under Steve Bruce, the 2-2 draw at Arsenal, the home defeats to Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as the Burnley home game he mentioned. However Steve Bruce's problem wasn't against the quality sides but the ones we were expected to roll over or were we needed to win. Bristol City at home, Barnsley away and possibly, worst of all, Newcastle United at home. The way we took three points at Swansea bodes well for when we play Middlesbrough, Sunderland, WBA, Palace, AFC Bournemouth and our other rivals for 40 points. However the proof of how good Mike Phelan is will be shown after we've played them not before. I expect we'll see a different attitude when we do play them but I don't have a relevant qualification just a feeling that we'll do alright. I didn't see any problem with Hernandez's attitude yesterday. Once Snodgrass was injured our attacking options were severely restricted. We may have got away with that against a lower or mid-table team but we were playing one of the best teams in the league. He did what was asked of him with the service provided.
Next up Burnley (A), Arsenal (H), LFC (A), then CFC (H). That could conceivably mean 5 defeats in a row after yesterday. I guarantee the Mike Phelan fan club on here will have become the PHELAN OUT brigade if that happens. It's what they do.
Thats ****ing bollocks. Clucas was playing exactly where he is now in the preseason games under Steve Bruce. FACT Dio is playing exactly the same role Sagbo played under Bruce. High up on the left hand side.
It doesn't matter a **** when it was made. Squadwise we are up the creek without a paddle. The whole team is just about ****ed and it showed yesterday towards the end of the match. Hence Manure getting the goal. That shower of **** where nothing special and we certainly didn't deserve to lose. We frustrated the **** out of them, especially Rooney. I will be surprised if they don't get turned over by Chelsea, Man City and even Arsenal this season. We as a team can not afford to let Henandez go even if we are offered £50 million and the Allams know that would be the final straw and they and their family had better be on the first Learjet out of Humberside Airport if they did sanction the sale.
Apparently the offer of £20 million is made up of £14 million up front £3m based on appearances and £3m based on goals scored... so its really not even £20m.
