Because Napoli have said he can go and we're one of the richest clubs in the world.

And let's not focus too much on him anyway. I only watch Italian football and a bit of Premier League, I'm sure there's ****loads of very good strikers around the world that we could attract for £20m who are better than Hernandez. It's only a year ago we'd have sold him for £5m.

It isn't about selling .. it's about being able to replace .. with what's gone on in recent months it's going to be ridiculously hard to replace anyone, even with our start we are still favourites to go down, why do you think no one has come in as yet .. Phelan is a relatively unknown as far as managing a club goes so cannot use his reputation to convince them to come like Bruce did.

I remember when we sold Long. People said we had to for the price we got for him. We brought in an untested in the PL striker who scored 4 for the season and we went down. If we'd kept Long and Jela together, who were striking a great partnership, that may well have been worth more than the 12m we got for Long if we had stayed up on the back of their goals.

Felt sorry for the c*** yesterday. Not many strikers would have run around all day chasing aimless **** like he did without handing in a transfer request. Allam's GONE?

He had 3 on him for a large part of the game under the ultra defensive Mike Phelan.
Hernandez and his agent believe their chap belongs in serie A or the PL.
Certainly not at Aston.

I always thought Jelavic was overrated, and his attitude could be quite bad (worse than when Hernandez had a strop last season).

As I said on the transfer thread, we need pace and people who find space. But that kind of intelligent player seems to only go to a handful of clubs in this division. The same with those that have that extra good touch going forward. That's the annoying divide in football, it would be better with more equality.

Best get use to heroic late heartbreakers at this level. Burnley the next 6 pointer in our mini also ran league.

Phelan OUT

Burnley is a game not to lose, but hopefully Phelan goes in with a more positive attitude than Bruce probably would have.

Under Bruce we crushed Burnley 3-0 in their heaviest defeat of the season.
In the return game, we matched them all the way and the game turned on one shot parried by McGregor and snapped up by one of theirs.
People need to stop rewriting the past and fantasizing about the present.
Every one of our fit first teamers are players signed during Steve Bruce's time.

Yeah but .............. he had no plan B, he'd lost the dressing room, everyone but Alex was on the naughty step, he was tactically naive .......... yeah!

Anyone who thinks we weren't overly negative for the past two seasons obviously didn't watch many games, Phelan's a breath of fresh air.

Dio yesterday had a good game, not so much in an attacking sense, but when we were without the ball, which was most of the time, he did a good job covering Robertson down the left.
People always seem to forget that part of the game. If they haven't scored 6 in 3 then they're written off. We also need to remeber Dio is stepping up massively in leagues and last season his pre-season was a write off. There's glimpses in him, but give him a chance please.
