Jade into final. Her opponent got a head shot in meaning only a 1 point lead for Jones going into last round, so she had to come out fighting.
The Egyptian in the other semi was so dull. She drew 0-0 and lost on golden point thankfully. I don't think Jade will have an issue in the final.
Phelps has on occasion been a complete ass, but also done some admirable things. Lochte has pretty much always been a complete ass. Watching him and Solo implode and turn into worldwide villains has been one of the best part of the Olympics. Aside from those two though, US have been doing well both on the medal and the Olympic spirit front. Which is good. Lots of happy, healthy US winners of all ethnicities on the podium is good propaganda. Makes Americans think that the US might not be as weak, crappy, and doomed as Trump keeps saying it is. And Trump losing is good for everyone.
De Grasse is the future, though. If he can stay healthy and focused, he'll win some golds in 2020 for sure.
Jade Jones won gold. We need these...not so many golds we can win now. This must be how it feels to go cold turkey.
And There's me thinking that all the finalists should run a sub 20 with Bolt there. He was the only one who went below that magical figure. Maybe nerves got the better of them being in the final. Hard luck Gemili but pleased for Lemaitre who must be absolutely overjoyed with his bronze.
Just caught up with Jade's gold winning performance without knowing score. A fight worthy of a final.
I see Sainsbury's have taken all of the French wine off their shelves. Something to do with French sour grapes.
Plenty of nations yet to get a medal. Let's cheer for the following to at least leave these Olympics with something. Chile, Uruguay, Pakistan, Iceland, Nigeria and Senegal to name but 6.
Watching the last bit of the men's hockey final last night I had no idea that in hockey you can take the goalie off and replace them with an outfield player. Imagine that rule being introduced to football.....!! NB. I know you can technically take the goalkeeper off and replace them with an outfield player from the bench but one player on the pitch still needs to be designated as the goalkeeper ie. the normal goalkeeper rules would still apply to that player - handling the ball in the area, etc.
I've decided that I might bagsie Swedish 800m runner Lovisa Lindh, which would relinquish my Quek bagsie.
Women's final tonight, GB v Holland, 9pm on BBC. May switch over to it if a certain other game isn't quite going to plan...!!
I've just seen the medal ceremony for Jade Jones. On the Bronze medal step was an Egyptiian and an Iranian. Jade beat a Swedish lass in the semi-final; what happened there? Why wasn't the Swede in it?
