Yeah not the same thing at all tbh.
Chipolata type sausages normally, the right length for a little bit to stick out each end once you've wrapped the bacon round, and the bacon has to the streaky kind. Roasted in the oven, bloody lovely they are.
If you're doing you're own make sure you stretch your bacon before you wrap the sausage (this is quite hard to write without it sounding like a long list of euphemisms!) I do it with a knife on a chopping board. That way your bacon cooks tightly round the sausage, if you don't it gets too loose and could even come apart, which would be traumatic
I love pigs in blankets

Mmm ... that sounds seriously goodMy wife uses a full size Lincolnshire sausage, sliced down the length, stuffed with vintage cheddar and basil and then wrap with bacon. She makes traditional ones at Christmas because Jesus or something.
Edit: She says you definitely stretch your bacon first.
Saves having another thread on porkism!I love the fact that a thread on Veganism has turned into a discussion on how best to wrap a sausage in bacon.![]()

I'm glad Mrs Head agrees about stretching your bacon too
It's a tricky subject to not euphemise!Wait... Is that a euphemism?
This calls for prompt action. Cabbage farmers of the world unite and feed the Vegolution. J'accuse, mon viande munchers. You shall be confined henceforth to history. A new dawn emerges. and our vegan strength will come from unity, harmony, and love, exclusively between vegans - a genetic founders group that will blossom between the rice harvester of the East and the grain farmer of the West, an incongruous pairing indeed but one inspired by nature herself, for is it not well known that In the Garden of Spices, the cinnamon is oft entwined with the nutmeg? Take that, you carnivorous curs, while your weak insipid gene pool dissipates forevermore. Let this be a warning to you you veal devouring vultures, we are coming for you.I love the fact that a thread on Veganism has turned into a discussion on how best to wrap a sausage in bacon.![]()

I have no idea why I have just written this or what it means - must be a dietary lack of iron or B12, or maybe there is too little blood in my alcohol system just now!!!
If you are into farming Des I am surprised you had to Google Rudolf Steiner. He's the one who knew sod all about growing plants, yet nonetheless one weekend lectured an assembly of his followers on horticulture. The result was the founding of "bio-dynamic" farming. Some of their practices are little better than what I expect from a witch-doctor, such as burying a cow horn filled with specially treated muck, and many of them believe in "earth spirits", elves and goblins, and that the Earth is a sentient being.Googled him. I'm not into 'spiritual science'. I hope you understand the 'soul' thing was merely in jest.

I think it was at that inaugural weekend that Steiner was asked about why deer are so agile and flee at the sight of man, while cows are cumbersome and docile so that men can utilize them. Steiner's answer involved a perceived Earth energy flow and the shape of the animals' horns. Some unexplained earth energy flows up through the animals' legs. In the case of deer, their horns send the energy skywards, and consequently deer tend to fly. Cow horns on the other hand usually grow to point downwards, and that directs the earth energy back into the ground holding the cows down and slowing them. This was Steiner's explanation to his spell-bound audience, among which was a stenographer. Steiner's followers did a job equal to that of the Christian apostles , here, take your pick of his claptrap, there's sure to be something about being vegan ...

Oh, and by the way, you might have been jesting, Rudolf Steiner wasn't.
