I find Hollywood's treatment of the Presidential office amusing. So often the President is depicted as a fine, upstanding American Hero, venerated by all, and any threat to his safety is met with horror and outrage. I can't think of any recent incumbent who would generate that response.

I think their thoughts have changed. Or at least if you look at air force one the vice prez and prez were strong.

Now every show they are weak willed and the vice prez always gives in and needs saving by some hero.

I'm still not convinced he isn't one of those paid propaganda folk that Putin hires to spread anti-western Crap around the web.

Na...as much as we hate it...US keeps Russia in check as the only superpower.

For all Trump's bat **** crazy notions as President he could enforce an isolationist policy. That's the biggest danger to world peace.

Why do you think Putin is backing Trump...The president controls foreign policy. He's already said he'll trash NATO and give in to Putins Eastern European revisionism.

While we don't want a GW type interventionism we also don't want a pre WW2 American Isolationism. It encourages very nasty guys like Putin to act without fear.

Trumps fascists tendencies would really only effect the US internally and as you say be checked by Congress and SC.

As for his "advisors" check the NYT for a piece about this...that he's the first Republican to be "stupid" but not surround himself with the experts he spits on...

Even Clinton tried to go to war in haiti. They all want a legacy

Trump will be surrounded by hawks. Imo it is 1000% certain with 12 months the us will be rolling tanks.

He's a cowardly isolationist...and Putin knows it. Like Hitler, Putin with Trump in will grab eastern Europe back...Bring Turkey and Syria into a pac and Trump will do nothing because it isn't "US business" ...and after undermining NATO the rest of the countries will do nothing to front up without US backing...

....unless this fabulous EURO army is formed beforehand <laugh>
 
Aren't all politicians opportunists? I remember John Cleese relating a story about Dennis Skinner once in that Skinner had been decrying the motivations of all his opponents for getting into politics, be it money on the Right, or ego on the left, as he saw it. When asked his own motivations Skinner replied, with a straight face (and no doubt believing it) 'To serve the people'.

Cleese could hardly finish the story through crying with laughter.

Donald Trump is exactly what you see. If you're thick or desperate to vote for that, then we get what we deserve. And after those ****s who fell for £350m a week extra for the NHS, Farage's dog-whistle and Murdoch's Sun.... well who are we to judge?

I firmly believe a lot of interests will lie in take oil capacity out so us fracking can be profitable again.

I honestly think he's got a decent chance of being impeached in his first year. Dems and Reps both hate him. One wrong move and he's impeached.

Pence may end up serving most of the 4 year term.
