I saw him failing on The Sun easy crossword too. Luckily, he does seem to know how to run a football club. Great news about SKD. Seems a long time ago (10 years, maybe) that I bought a Saints teddy for a new grandchild before a game against QPR and told my daughter that the little one could give the teddy any name but Kelvin! He has been forgiven a thousand times since. Total legend.
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but today's BBC Sportsday page has asked - who in football would you like to see in government? Best, best, best answer from someone called Jayden Frankling: Southampton's Les Reed for Chancellor of the Exchequer - will end up selling Scotland and buying a better country, like Iceland.
http://www.premierleague.com/news/60849 Little puff piece on Targett...suggesting he will hope to do better under Puel.
West Ham go into draw for the third qualifying round of the Europa today. Can't see our name...oh, yes...because we aren't in it yet. Suckers.
Second Half XI = GK: Lewis DEF: Valery, Stephens, Jones, McQueen MID: Højbjerg, Reed, Hesketh ATT: Olomola, Isgrove and Rodriguez. Subs: Josh Sims and Sam G. Not sure McQueen has ever played in defence before?
Apologies if posted elsewhere, but decent article here - http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features...g-boys-how-long-can-they-dine-fine-themselves
Not bad. There is a point made in the article that I've made on several occasions, but have been disagreed with, on the whole. And that is that rival clubs, such as Liverpool see Southampton as a big thorn in their side and one apparently very easy way to blunt it is to weaken Saints every season by buying key players. Liverpool may have made huge errors acquiring some of our players, when they could have gone elsewhere and bought others just as good for cheaper money, but they are not such idiots that they don't realise that by taking the likes of Lambert, Lallana, Mane, etc... off our hands they buy the players that made the difference to us in a lot of games in the last few seasons. WHU couldn't do it because they couldn't afford to. ManU could and did. For a glamour club it's an easy way to strengthen their own options whilst deliberately weakening ours. Our players possibly weren't worth the money. But they were cheap if it meant that it kept us rebuilding and not moving forward at the pace we are capable of doing. It's a game the glamour clubs play, and luckily so far, Liverpool are bad at it. That won't keep forever.
I was one who disagreed with you back then. I think I need to say that it seems you were right TSS. Spuds going as far as to try and take part of, what they thought, the key personnel in our structure.
It wasn't just you, FLT, but thanks for coming round anyway. I'd forgotten about Spuds actually. Yeah, they have taken a few key people, on and off the field.
He spent his early years in left back from 8 to 12. Swopped with Shaw prior to the Dallas Cup competition. Also played on both sides of defence for Southend united on two occasions.
So, can McQueen actually defend, because I was impressed with his taking players on, when running from deep, which could give Claude another option to consider. Judging from yesterday's game, full backs will be essential for providing width.
Watching the golf and heard a dick shout out "in the hole"... Got me talking to the wife about the MK Dons game and the "mars bar" song. That was very silly but very funny!
Any person (above the age of five) who shouts 'in the hole' should be smacked in the mouth as they asked for it.
