Earlier today the Leave campaign #backpedaled on NHS funding. This evening they have now #backpedaled on reducing immigration.
Imo this result has been 30 years in the making in the media and frankly it's not really just immigration. Yes a lot of lazy arsed turd voted racially but I genuinely think there's just a very large proportion that have been educated to get anti europe over that 30 years. Every issue is europes fault.I bet 1 in 10 voted leave over ounces and pounds! For whatever reasons a decision has been taken to break up the union. Leave the single market and turn inwards. In 10 years this will be a radically different country as a result. A satellite state of Europe with precious little say in anything. I can see one day soon a Republican (not trump) get office in the states and what's over here just lumping in behind d some mad war just to prove we are not Irrelevant.
To be fair on the NHS funding, Farage was asked about it and said it was a mistake but it wasn't actually him who had made the claim in the first place, it was a claim that had originated somewhere in the official Leave campaign of which Farage wasn't actually involved. Haven't seen the new stuff on immigration, got a link? I've said multiple times in the lead up to the referendum though that a leave vote was unlikely to deal with immigration the way people expected..
So he disavowed the official ad campaign but I suppose his racist poster campaign is fine by all. Just cos the number on the bus was 3x put can't distract from his racism.
The bit in bold is not neccessarily true, we've voted to leave the EU but that doesn't necessarily mean losing access to the common market or turning inwards, in fact part of the point of going for a leave vote was to turn outward to the global community rather than just focusing on Europe.
They backpedaled on the NHS one two days after Gove adder told Faisal Islam that they would be spending it on the NHS. I pointed this out to a ****wit in our messroom who just muttered some **** about immigration instead in the manner of Hodor from GoT. I pointed out that at that Wembley thing Boris, Loathsome and Gisela couldn't say that they'd bring down immigration either.
I think Argentina might just try one on shortly. They've been waiting for Britain since 1982 debacle I think. They'll try it if we sink economically.
Before: please log in to view this image After: Dan Hannan MEP: Leave did not pledge to reduce immigration From earlier on the Big Decision, Conservative MEP and Leave campaigner Dan Hannan said there was no promise to reduce immigration by leaving the European Union. He told the programme that Vote Leave had "never said there is going to be some radical decline, that we're going to shut the door". Mr Hannan said what people wanted was to know the government was in charge of how many people were coming in. "We promised to control migration even that will take time - I don't want to build up expectations but that will happen," he said. He said people are "not like three-year-olds" and they understand that nothing will change immediately.
Even that answer I think is misleading as we will want to negotiate access to the common market and as such will likely compromise on free movement of labour...
And they'll lose and we will all feel united, a good war is just what we need to bring the country together right now
You can't have access to the common market AND control immigration, something the Leave campaign has only just realised and so decided they never promised to reduce immigration in the first place
As a leave voter who has taken a long standing interest in the EU this is a point I did try to point out to people in the lead up to the referendum and tried to tell people to educate themselves and vote for real reasons one way or the other. It's just a shame that neither of the campaigns was fought on a platform of truth and honestly providing the facts to the voting public.
Maybe Europe likes us so much they'll let us have all the rights of the common market without the responsibilities While they're at it, maybe they'll give us all their exports for free too so we save even more money
Is that what they do with China, India, America etc If not how do you explain the amount of goods from these country's flowing into Europe?
Do you know what the tariff on buying good from us is? No thought not. Everything is different but it 10-15% on some stuff If you think for one second China or us has free trade you are wrong. That's the whole whine about ttip.
Indeed ...it was a sham and an unneeded one from the point of strategy of Brexit... They tried to make out they could have everything. It was an either or at least right away. Either: continue to concentrate on EU as main market. The downside being why leave with current EU leaders and structure because they at this moment with insist on free movement.. Or: EU is a sess pit and we believe by having a more limited market in the EU by refusing restrictions or free movement of Labour; we can concentrate on developing unilateral trade agreements with the rest of the world; specifically the common wealth with its curret growth exceeding that of the EU..it will take time but we believe it will make us more in the long run...better yet we believe by exiting, the EU will come to their senses on free movement because it's even unpopular in the Eurozone countries and we can redevelop a better trade deal once they reevaluate migration... It's an argument that would have divided the economic experts that remain pointed to. It's also an argument that would have fit more neatly with their points based migration control... Instead...they tried to pretend they could have same trade deal without free migration from EU and top up with rest of world...frightened to say they'd risk our current main market for new ones...it looked and smelled like bullshit...silly.
