Last night, 25,000 people enjoyed the nostalgia trip that a great entertainer took them on, yes it may be naff and a bit kitsch but, that's entertainment for you - it's obviously not your thing, but the world would be such a miserable place if it was full of those who couldn't see entertainment for what it is ........... i.e something to be enjoyed.
Never read so much pretentious drivel regarding music since Chris Welch was coming out with his weekly dose of rubbish in the music papers. The answer is simple, listen to what you enjoy and let others enjoy what they want instead of coming out with the sort of psychobabble that a failed social worker would spout. I have no doubt that people could have fun dissecting and mocking your musical favourites.
there were a load of online whingers at the time too. i was nearby and watched from a distance what was a pretty good display.
You must remember that to a lot of folk in Hull 11pm is an ungodly hour when all good folk should have finished their Horlicks and be tucked up in bed. They yearn for a return to pubs shutting at 10.30 pm, 10pm on a Sunday.

Rod is way past his best, his voice is ****ed, but he has evolved into a veteran status of what he was, and he's done that reasonably well, with self-deprecation and self-awareness, and retaining his humour and bonhomie. It would be great if we could get headlining new acts at the KCOM instead of the old bastards, but as a club we signed Carter, Morty, Bremner and Barmby etc when they were all past their best...so we should be used to it.
Rather ironic that someone pontificating about his superior tastes in music has as a user name one of the most awful songs ever inflicted on an undeserving public.
No I didn't, his music is OK, and if his voice ain't ****ed compared to what it was, then your ears must be.
