There's nothing wrong with Blunder talking up the city..all power to them, but the constant brown-nosing and Burnsey's numerous references to 'Sir Rod' had me reaching for the sick-bucket...
Best organised concert at the KC so far, been to all apart from JLS. Sir Rod take a bow you were Brilliant x
They've book a wrestling show for the City Hall. What more do you want ? Best bit was the backdrop of Mo Diame scoring the winner at Wembley for City whilst Rod was on stage. Liked the kicking of football's into the crowd too. Tremendous concert, well attended and very well organised. The outside concourse looked like one of a Premier League football club too, with the many bars and eateries. Unlike the usual match day at City when Bobs Burger van is the solitary fast food outlet.
Didn't stop the predictable miserable bar steward ringing RH this morning to complain about 'all the noise at 11.00pm'
While it might be suggested that it's churlish to criticize such bread and circus servings of pre digested culture to audiences of little discrimination, it can hardly be denied that such overhyped spoonfeeding bears no comparison with the creative and attitude changing impact of the originals these tribute acts parasitize. Yes I am suggesting that Rod, and the rest of such establishment lovies are reduced to being no more than tribute acts to their former selves Whenever I criticize these mock rock events It is often suggested that I shouldn't as they give so many people pleasure. Well I don't begrudge them their simple pleasures, but I very much resent the fact that the more this sort of tinsel and glitter substitute for the real force that music once was is so gratefully swallowed by the masses, most of whom would have been adoring Abba and The Osmonds when Rod was actually a relevant artist, the more this **** will be shoveled onto us. If this trend continues,it can't be too long before we are being offered tribute acts to tribute acts. Thankfully, you might agree, I won't be around to see it. Such concerts are the musical equivalent of pink slime. The more the gratefully indiscriminate gobble it up, the harder it becomes for the rest of us to find proper food.
Did I go where? Off the top of me skull...I've seen Pink Floyd (twice) The Who (in London) UFO (brilliant) Strangers (Dire) Hawkwind fronted by the late, great Lemmy.. Dylan (dire)....others I simply can't recall....
Have to say he has never been by favourite singer but last night was a great show, and he is certainly a great artist and he put of an awesome performance. The whole evening was well organised also, so credit to all concerned.
That's a harsh, but fair, summation - I usually like OT's posts but this particular one is churlish in the extreme and shows him in a pompous, holier than thou and generally superior to everyone else mode. What a joyless, miserable post it is.
Oh yes and this place is usually such a happy clappy bundle of joy. Sorry to lower the tone. A miserable account it may be but I notice the target is the messenger. No one willing to refute the actual points being made. No need to apologise, I understand if you couldn't find a ready made cut and paste reply.
