I think that sums up just how out of touch some little Englanders really are.

Treb, calm down mate. I personally think the Inners will win but all the debating in the world won't change people's minds.

I dont think they will BM. I think you lot are gaining the momentum tbph. I may think you're wrong but you're winning the argument out there on the street. Because we've got a bunch of impotent idiots running the Remain campaign.

I doubt any dye in the wool eurosceptics will ever be turned but I was just trying to highlight how you and so many seem to claim you reflect the views of those who fought in the 2nd world war and how patronising and unfair that is. It's almost as if, if you want to be a part of the EU you are against them and what they stood for, and therefore a traitor, which is patently bollox.

Well the men who fought in ww2 actually fought against Nazism . I don't really subscribe to the view of some outers. That said though, we should be free to govern ourselves. However, I'm not getting into it on a forum. No point.

    I didn't say that did I ?

I said I didn't like the way some people try and use the War to paint a picture that it was fought for an isolationist, nationalistic agenda when it was actually about fighting against Fascism and securing a cooperative Europe that wouldn't go to war with itself again.

They fought fascism as an ideology, not just the Nazis, as the Allies were also at war with Italy. The viewpoint taken by many Outers is extremely right wing. Farage is a fascist.

So using WWII as a reason why Britiain should exit Europe is completely nonsensical. An isolated Britain is absolutely not what Churchill wanted.

No doubt that Churchill was a great visionary. He saw what Hitler's plans were whilst others were happy to let him gobble up other parts of Europe. He saw Hitler for what he was, a megalomaniac dictator.

It is, of course, difficult to know what he would think of the world now - well over half a century later. But, I think it's safe to assume that he would almost certainly not be in favour of us leaving Europe and would be at the head of the campaign to remain.

This is really childish Custard and I can only assume that you're trying to present yourself as a brave patriot who would fight for his country (as long as everyone else was willing to do the same!) but I'll play along.

Who are the enemy and what is the cause of the war?

If the UK in its current state was under the threat of invasion by an aggressor like the Nazis and the government called for the people to enlist then yes I'd do my bit.

If the UK played the role of the Nazis then I think I'd do what some German people did in WWII and refuse to fight for a regime that I believed to be evil. They wouldn't want me anyway as I am the son of an immigrant! Were the German objectors in WWII cowards?

I don't think that people should blindly fight for their country. Hitler convinced the vast majority in Germany that they should do just that, which is how he became so powerful so quickly.

See my sig. Was Ali a coward?

By the way, during your lifetime you've had the chance to fight for the UK in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He has to ignore that as it blows his "we must honour the WWII dead" argument apart!

all that waffle to say yes I would fight.

Simple question needs a simple answer

I have nver joint the services and I would never join them unless we are attacked, the Government dont pay enough or look after the lads that do come back injured.

Churchill once said, “If Britain must choose between Europe and the open sea, she must always choose the open sea”
