Depends how good your liquidiser is. Could be a walk in the park with the right tools

I haven't posted on here for ages but thought I should just add my thoughts to the debate.

I think Ronald leaving is a bit of ambition and money. He has ambition to break into the champions league, win a cup maybe a league. I think he feels that to do that consistently you need to spend money, not lose your best players etc. Saints are unwilling to pay over the odds on player purchases or wages to do this. Maybe RK has found this frustrating and said to the board to deliver what they want to achieve in the '5 year plan' Saints must spend and that doesn't compute with the bringing through of young talent (the clubs philosophy). They won't have as much chance to break through to the first team with a bigger, quality squad.

So he has found a club that potentially will spend big because they are currently a lot worse off then Saints and have no other option in the short-term. I think RK is making a very risky choice it could go terribly wrong and then he can kiss goodbye any big plans in management but he must feel it's his best chance of major success in England. There's no guarantee any bigger jobs will be available this time next year so he's taking a massive gamble hoping to win big.

We will never honestly know the truth of the situation for years to come and by then we will have been through another couple of managers and even more players.

Edit - Anyone who Uncle Les picks is fine by me.

    1. RK hasn't left. ( Everything is agreed, so all it needs is the final confirmation)
    2. He may leave ( He will leave)
    3. We don't know all the facts from all stakeholders
    4. When he gave those interviews/statements was he genuine ( who knows, but it doesn't seem like he meant last weeks one)
    5. Has he had a change of heart ( in about 2 days he did)
    6. Why would this be ( money, more money and a bigger club)
    7. Is he thinking he cant take us forward (no, he was willing to sign a new contract and was close before Everton came in)
    8. Why would he think this ( he doesn't)
    9. Is that due to players going, ie Mane, Vic ( no)
    10. Does he not have the budget he believes he requires ( again he was happy and close to signing a new contract. Then suddenly dumped his agent and got a new one)
    11. Why did Uncle Les put that strange interview about the negotiations, i know you said they're dammed if the do or don't and I agree. ( it wasn't strange at the time)
    12. Les didnt need to go into that much detail ( his choice, I would rather he was open then a club that tells you nothing)
    13. If RK is just taking the big bucks, so what, as perhaps many things have changed very quickly ( Everton comimg back with more cash was the change)
    14. I think we can get a better manager
    15. PR is playing a far more significant role at the club, and rightly so as we are a violently growing brand.

I don't care that he left. He just looks a idiot and not honest for saying he would stay about 100 times.

Now of to sleep as I have a flight in a few hours.

    Ok here goes.

I am a Catholic atheist. Catholic in culture, atheist in values. So no god theory from me. Follow the 10 commandments (Catholic upbringing) and you'll be good.

Money. Oh money. We all want/need it, and the root of all evil (religious phrase). I'm not going to knock religious thoughts - what ever rocks your boat is good. We all have different thoughts. BUT. How much do we really need? I'm no socialist (actually far from it), but what is the point of being the richest man in the cemetery?

Ron had taken the money and run. How many of us would do it? Probably quite a few. How many of US would do it to Saints? None. We are fans not employees. Ron is not a bad person, just a capitalist ginger fat twat [emoji6]. (Think I lost the moral high ground towards the end?!)

Indeed. Studies have shown that the corraltion between more money and happiness goes up to around £50k/year. After that, it doesn't matter how much more you're earning, the salary has little effect on how happy you are.*
Of course, it's not a widely know fact, so many still take bigger salaries as they think it'll make them happier. A recipe for disappointment, if ever there was one.

*This sounds unlikely, but think about it - on that money you get a stable life, can afford most things and far less stress than most on mega money. I'm on my phone, so I can't link to the actual paper, I'm afraid.

Of course it's not impossible to think that, but it seems he was close to signing, turned Everton down and then changed his mind....

I don't know why, and it's kinda frustrating, but I really just can't hate the bloke.

Mind you, I'm the same (as you know) about Poch.

They're gone, and as Billy/Stuart says you can, if you strip away the emotions, see some vague reasons as to why.

Personally I'm now just looking forwards to what comes next. Feels like welcome aboard AVB. Time for you to come to the 'resurrector of reputations'.

The most digestible explanation comes from Dan Pink in his motivation talks/book.

Just a snippet, but a good book too.

Yeah, I said days ago I think he's just gone for the money and that's worse than Pochettino. Like LTL I don't really hold it against him.

I'm just getting a bit sick of the whole thing now. Feels like we're just going round in circles. It's time for him to leave so we can all move on.

No - we need it to drag on a bit longer yet, just to see how big a thread which contains nothing new can actually get!! I reckon we could get into the Guinness World records at the rate we are going!:emoticon-0167-beer:<bubbly>

It would be much harder for a rich man to get into heaven than a liquidised camel.
However, if you're suggesting using the liquidiser on the rich man then it would be a walk in the park to get him through the eye of a needle, but might not increase his chances of getting into heaven.

It would also make him easier to eat, which would be the best solution all round.

That's very true, however utilising the liquidiser on the camel would allow the rich man to sneak into heaven with the caterers when they deliver the soup

I think it's just got to the stage where nobody really has any **** left to give and are now just waiting to see who's next through the revolving door into the manager's office

My thinking though is that I think the key word here as you have put it is "seems." We don't know when Les says "its all with the solicitiors now" just how close or not it was. It could have been way off but that was Les saying "Ahh its not a problem" when the reality could have been it was a problem.

Just a thought if anyone doubts that the impetus to leave is coming from RK rather than the club, consider this. If RK doesn't want to sign a new deal and the board says that he has to or will be sacked, then he can call their bluff. If the board sack him, then he is free to join whoever he likes and since there would be no compensation to pay there would be more money available for his salary. Obviously, the board wouldn't want a manager who wasn't committed to the job but RK just has to sit tight. It's obviously him who has pushed for this move.

That's all a bit too well thought out and logical Channon, there's no call for that kind of behaviour on here - nobody likes a smartass

Just out of interest, if anyone can be bothered to look it up, how many times has Les come out with a positive interview regarding a manager/player and then the person in question has actually signed? I know it is just human nature to remember the times when you have been burnt so to speak, but I really can't think of a time where he has said "player x is in negotiations and we hope they are concluded quickly" and it has actually happened.
