Seems like an easy option, and a very easy rumour to spread. I wouldn't read much into it at this point.
I think I agree. There's just something about AVB, something I can't quite put my finger on, that I'm not convinced by. The best-informed Spurs fan I know thinks AVB's a very good coach but very thin-skinned and he reckons that causes problems for him. If that's true we'd probably be a good English option for him - good squad, not too much press coverage, no crazy expectations so he's likely to be given time if things don't quite go right at at any point...
From what the people in the know have said around £2.5m- £3m a year. Which was doubling his money he was on before. So Everton have given him a crazy offer that makes him the 6th or 7th highest paid manager in the world.
I remember he did go and confront Neil Ashton (he of #MELTDOWN and #EXODUS fame) in a press conference for trying to be divisive at Spurs. They really didn't get on and AVB wasn't afraid to call Ashton out on writing BS. Perhaps he reads and cares too much, for some.
Garcia....nice curveball. I think Schmidt would be mad to leave. Champions League footie and clearly got them on an upwards curve with an ethos everyone buys into. I also think we may take advantage of the Euros to try and land an international manager coming to the end of a reign... I think: AVB Howe Low Deschamps FDB
Pretty sure AVB thought that was the case. Also, although he denied it, I doubt he appreciated Redknapp's running commentary on his job.
Ah yes sorry arry was pre avb. Yes he got 72 pts but surely he should have done better with that squad? And they made some crap purchases with him in charge.
My only slight reservation of AVB is that he wasn't a player and as such, can he get the instant respect of a dressing room like Koeman could. However, his record at Spurs was very good.
While we're discussing AVB and the media etc... Here's his very public falling out with Neil Ashton. I suppose he'd get on well with Les then!
