I'm hoping too mate, never before has the hopes and expectations of an entire nation been carried for so long on one player's shoulders, as much as this lad.

If we win it'll be in spite of Rooney no doubt.

**** knows about Bale, everybody knows who Rooney is though. We have the biggest fan base in the world, it's no surprise really that Rooney is so well known.

I particularly liked him when he starred alongside Liz Taylor in National Velvet, although it is alleged that he was shagging her when she was just 14 years old and he was in his mid twenties..

Rooney doesn't shag girls behind Colleens back unless they have a bus pass.

    Won just about everything <ok>

Robbed of Ballon D'or by a guy who won just the league in 1999, after he was instrumental in winning the treble with United.

    He was just a brand.

Beckham was a good footballer, but in my opinion he was never great.

That's exactly what I think of him :emoticon-0148-yes:

He has, though, handled his fame extremely well . . . . because of all of the hype surrounding him, he could easily have 'gone off the rails' :emoticon-0105-wink:

He's like a film star, and his 'thick as pigshitness' hasn't held him back in any way :emoticon-0145-shake

    I think that he's been brilliant :emoticon-0100-smile

I've never understood people's obsession with judging him on his academic aptitude, he's a footballer, he doesn't come into your house and judge you for being unable to drop a ball on a 50p from 60 yards.

I'm sure Becks would be crying into the bespoke leather seats in his custom Aventador that he was given for free.

Coming back to Rooney, his value lies in the need for the opposition to double or man mark him, movement off the ball creates space for our other strikers. For me Lallana gets the benefit of that when he drives forward.
