Totally agree always give a talented youngster a chance but Defoe could be an experienced plan B to get goals

... bit of a neutral perspective ... I'm obviously more interested in this England team than any for a long time ..not just because of Vardy (and possibly Drinkwater) but also the young Spurs talents...

I do share some of your general feeling mind ..e.g Vardy has now scored in consecutive games against Germany, Holland and a very good Turkey...Rooney scores against a woeful Aussie defence and the Sky4 luvvy press proclaim that 'captain fantastic' is now back and 'must start' ...I guess at least it wasn't San Marino this time :)..

.. unfortunately players from clubs outside that group will always have to prove themselves far more ..

I would have preferred Defoe or Carroll to Sturridge mainly because Roy is likely to take too many 'sick notes' ..

... ahhh that would explain it ... and still expecting Wayne Rooney to 'come good' after how many major championship under-performances? .... (and arguably 5 years after his peak)...

Come good? He's won everything at club level, my god it didn't take Leicester fans long to get big-headed did it?

Another one who blames Rooney for the lack of showing from an entire team and generation internationally.

he has been good at international level, but for one reason or another has never performed well in major tournaments after we have qualified..I'm really hoping that this is the year when he bucks this trend..

    Really?
You think Bale is a well known player worldwide?

    You'll be saying Vardy next

But if i am correct, you think Leicester are huge in Asia?

Every England thread ends up being about how **** Rooney is, this one isn't any different.

It's his fault if we don't win it, obviously.
