I assume that's all the player of the month selectors do as well. Stoke defended poorly and he took advantage (that win was all about the defence though).

When you're comparing the performances of over 200 players over four or five games then it can only be decided on certain statistical criteria. I'd like to think the final nominees are given a bit more scrutiny, but Pelle's goals and assists in March(despite only coming from 2 of the 4 games) was obviously enough for him to stand out.

Whether that's fair or not is an argument you make well. I'm sure the violins are playing for the defensive midfielders out there

Celtic preparing for a windfall if Victor and Fraser are sold on.....they could be in luck with VW, but can't see us letting Fraser go and he owes us after being out for so long as well.

MLT saying that we may be able to hold onto plyers as none have shone this season....mmm, not sure about that, but I am sure that the team is not going to be dismantled. The club has ambition and we didn't lose all the players predicted last summer, did we? And we want Ron to sign an extension to his contract.

Its even more cruel that players can force moves after having a pretty mediocre season by their standards. Vic's next move will be critical for his career, but he seems to be chasing numbers rather than dreams these days.

Have to agree with MLT. For one reason or another not many of our players have performed consistently well. Personally I would say only Bertrand and Van Dyke have. Virgil has a long way to go on his contract and probably tempting fate, but Bertrands experience at Chelsea makes me think he would not be as tempted, plus he also has some years left.

Mane has kind of plateaued this season and I would be surprised if another team would match our valuation of him.

Les, Ralph, Katharina and Ron need to hold a players meeting in the dressing room right after Super's testimonial. They should say to the players that nobody they want to stay is leaving this summer and anyone with only a year left on his contract either signs an extension (even if only one year) or shouldn't be surprised if they don't get as much first team action as they'd expect!

Tell them that this is the year that is different. This is the year they transform themselves and the club to the next level and then they can see what is for them in the future.

This summer is a big one for Saints. Not in terms of which players come/go as that is important every year, but if we really want to kick on and become a regular challenger at the top end of the table then we simply have to change the pay structure. With all the extra money coming with the new TV deal teams will be offering bigger wages and we will lose out on a lot of players if we are competing for them directly with another PL team.

Interesting to hear that in 2016, only Tottenham and Leicester have scored more points than us!

    http://eplindex.com/76138/southamptons-sustained-success-means-successful-season-club.html

An article which some fans might do well to read....pointing out how important consistency is...and how Saints look like having another good season. Points out how rare that is in Saints' history. Giving Liverpool as an example of a team that nearly took the title, but fell away in subsequent seasons. The author could have included Chelsea in that position as well, which raises the question about how well Leicester and Spurs will do next season. Not wishing ill on Leicester, but I can't see them any where near as good next season (not that they will care with a title under their belt :)).

I think many are underwhelmed by three top ten finishes, but I think it is something that can be built on. We can beat any team (remember we beat Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, United this season) and we could be real contenders if we learn to raise our game against the little guys.

But will Wenger be there next season....he may have been pushed upstairs. That may change everything.

Watching Spurs v Man U, John Champion, the TV commentator, made a comment about Spurs fans singing, "Oh when the Spurs", and that being their anthem! A dreary rendition at that.
Didn't we sing it way before them?
