Saints said to be looking at Austrian winger Guido Burgstaller (what a wonderful name). Signed a 3 year deal at Cardiff, but left by mutual consent after playing only 3 games....love to know what that was about though some suggest it was a money saving decision.

Three games in five months, and with his 27th birthday looming he's currently plying his trade in the German second division. A somewhat prosaic signing, that would be.

You mean the day we win Leicester the league :)

Let's hope so eh ? :)

On another note it's only just struck me that Deano might be about to pick up a PL medal!! Anyone know how many games he's played and what the rules are now?

Oh bollocks didn't realise he went on loan to Sheff United :(

Deano had one appearance in a cup before moving to Sheffield United.....I doubt he will feel he deserves a medal.

Yeah I just checked n edited, hadn't realised he'd gone there on loan, reunion with Nige then? Bit gutted though cos I had convinced myself on the way to work this morning that he was still there n could be about to get a medal <laugh>

Discussion of our last 6 games and what we need to do (taken from Ugly Inside). To achieve the same number of points we need 4 wins and a draw from last 6 games (ulp) so that may not happen. And with Liverpool and Chelsea just behind us, 7th is probably as good as it gets. Seventh may not be enough for Europe this season as there is a chance that 4th may not be enough for a CL place, so presumably that will bump 7th out of the Europa even if the cups go right for us (unless you know differently?o_O). I'm guessing this season will be much like last season in the end performance wise, though as the article points out that would still be 3 consecutive top ten finishes...so better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick :)

Who had Nathan Dyer as the first player from the various academy graduates and big money departures to be the first to pick up a league title medal?

I think you still have to make 10 league appearances a season, don't you?

Not me. The other day when he came on as a substitute, I thought Blimey, Nathan Dyer will probably get there first... before remembering that Alan Shearer did it first. But I know what you mean.

Koeman suggests we may possibly offer a new contract to Forster. Not sure if that is a serious consideration or he was just replying to a leading question. We have Forster under contract for a few more years, so not sure why we would change anything so soon. Koeman says we can't compete with big teams for money...only partly true...can't attract them perhaps, but we certainly don't need to let players go if under contract. We have stopped Morgan, Mane and Wanyama from leaving. Suicidal to let Forster go....we need to add another keeper, not release one.

Can't be. He's rubbish isn't he? ;)

Well I for one don't think he's played well this month. He's scored three goals, but then again with some fans and pundits that means plays well*

* nb. I didn't see the Stoke game, only the goals*

** people criticise Garth Crooks when he picks his team Of the week based on someone scoring :)

He also provided 2 assists, so was involved in 5 of our goals in important wins for us. That would only be cancelled out if he directly caused goals against us by terrible play....whereas I can remember at least one headed clearance in the Leicester game. What more can you actually want from a striker....would get him into most teams. If he was perfect, he wouldn't play for Saints, he would be at Barcelona or another top side.

Fran, I've just passed comment that I didn't think he played well that month. I'm not criticising him in an over the top manner. I'm not saying I expect perfection. I just don't think he played well in those games that I saw. It is actually possible for a player to score a goal and not play well.

I don't quite think playing well or not involves cancelling out of good and bad things. I am looking at it from a performance not a statistical point of view. This leads me to being surprised he is in player of the month for the whole league. That's all.
