Pardew has confirmed that if we miss out on Erdinc we could make a move for Defoe, I think would be a decent signing but i wouldnt pay more than £5m for him

This bascially means he will be able to start making his own signings rather than Carrs

I'd pay the £6.5m for him that was gonna be used for Erdinc. Defoe is decent, I don't know what people expect for under £10m these days.

Let's do it the proper Newcastle way and watch him on Youtube.

  12. He isn't ****e, he just got a bad injury and has been out of form. Crouch and VDV have been linking up well and he wasn't going to get a proper chance.

I think he can get back up to form.

Quality but both him and Crouch would seem totally at odds with our recruitment policy. If you pay 6.5m for him, you'd be effectively writing off that money in favour of hoping his undoubted ability pushes onwards and upwards. Now call me an Ashley cynic, but can you really see him doing that? I think he'd much prefer to wait and go with what we've got. I don't mind our policy before anyone thinks I'm against it. In an ideal world the club would be in a better financial position, and our recruitment policy could be a little more progressive. i.e. quality talent supplemented by excellent youth prospects. Unfortunately our finances dictate we need to buy low, sell high. Calculated risks on young talent is the way to go. or find bargains like Cheick but they are few and far between.

Did someone really say he's ****e? He had an average season for Spurs last year but he knows where the net is and far surperior to anything we have including Ba.

I think Defoe is a top, proven Premiership striker and would love to see him at SJP.

I would be over the moon with Defoe. Not sure who most of u think we are capable of signing but it's not as high a calibre as some might think. I reckon the Gameiro and Gervinho talk at the beginning of the transfer window has spoiled us. Erdinç AND Defoe would be fantastic. But all this attacking talk is taking away from the fact that we do need an LB desperately as Enrique will be sold thanks to his outburst. I'm happy at RB with Simo an Raylor. I would also be looking at a backup SS as I've got unnerving feelings about Ben Arfa's injuries of late. I don't even want to talk about it!

Mixed feelings on here about him.

I would have him, if he was a few years younger.

    This.

He is quality but didn't have the goals to back it up last year. Would rather have Pavlyuchenko (sp).
