I raised the issue of scouting on here a few years ago and another poster (can't remember their name) tried shooting me down saying the club did plenty on terms of scouting. The poster later admitted they worked for the club in the scouting network and it was only when other posters agreed with me that they backed down.
I'm not sure if this is the same with me being told the club do enough now too.
I agree the club are doing MORE but still probably not enough by any stretch. Hull City have put on more competitions this year from 7 year olds up to 11 year olds. A great start in my opinion. Get the children playing the sport in a tournament organised by Hull City; even the Liverpool/Man Utd supporting kids think it's a big deal. Plus plenty of scouting has gone on through these competitions. We've have three kids spotted over the last 4-5 months and they certainly weren't the only ones from any of the schools taking part.
When our half time entertainment consists of "here are the scores from elsewhere" and "player X has received an award", picking some kids from a school or a Saturday/Sunday team to come in and have a relay race around the pitch, a penalty shoot out against Roary or a cross bar challenge are all better alternatives - all for the sake of twenty free tickets in a corner of the stand which doesn't fill.
Nearly all of Hull's primary schools are connected to one another on Twitter now. As soon as one school goes (and tweets about it), the rest will hear about it. Then the following game, another and another and, before you know it, hundreds have kids have been to the game for the first time, maybe even been on the pitch and it's all over social media for schools, children, parents, other fans etc. to see. It advertises itself.
Other clubs are doing it. Our rugby teams are doing it. Why aren't we?
If you read my post, I did not say that the club does enough, I said the club is always willing to work with schools as is the Tigers Trust.
Tigers Trust
We arrange many events through the year e.g. children's coaching courses, education programmes and fundraising challenges. Our Junior Programme provides children aged 4 to 12 with a number of exciting opportunities to keep them active, have fun, meet new friends and develop essential skills. By working with many of the region's primary schools we aim to increase confidence and motivate more children to take up sporting opportunities beyond school.
