Blackburn totally bought the title. They bought their way to promotion from the division below too. It was totally different then, as there were very few teams who could match their spending power – unlike now. Jack Walker could have taken over anyone and got, more or less, the same result.
What? He's a useless idiot with half wit ideas, unrealistic policies, and a team that's pulling in all directions. Leicester are the antithesis of that!
I would love Leicester to win the Premier League title - what a shot in the arm it would be for all the "little" clubs like us to see the rich boys taken down a peg or two and prove that it can be done. Even better if Chelsea were to get relegated - but I think Sunderland, Villa and Norwich have that sewn up!
If Leicester win it then we deserve some credit for doing our bit in knocking them out the League Cup which allowed them to concentrate on the league.
Imagine the odds you would have got 12 months ago on Leicester being top now, never mind surviving last season. I know his name is dirt on here, but I wonder how much of the credit can be put down to Pearson. It isn't often a manager can pick up on a job with a team that has been on a run like they finished last season (not to take too much credit away from Ranieri though - what an amazing job he has done just to keep it going this long).
People say this about any team with an in form striker. Fact is if we didn't have Hernandez, yes we'd miss him but Akpom would be playing and scoring more than he is doing as Abel's understudy. We've also had a frankly ridiculous number of different goalscorers this season. 16 is it? Maguire will get one before long too.
It's an amazing season for them, but can they build on it or like Blackburn will it be a one season wonder and then normal service resumed?
How many were at Leicester last season for the goal-less draw and can remember them taunting us with ''you're going down with the Leicester?'' ........... well done them, I'm genuinely stoked for 'em. A month ago I was hoping for Leicester, Spurs n Palace to be in the top four, just to **** three of the ''big four'' up, shame that Palace are having a blip just now!
Alternatively, they're the underdogs, trying to overthrow the wealthy and powerful elite who have been lording it over us all for way too ****ing long.
The only comparison is the underdog aspect. Leicester are a cohesive unit of talented, hard-working ambitious players under an experienced manager; the complete polar opposite of Corbyn/Labour.
Before that they won the FA Cup 3 times in a row and that unmatched achievement followed a win by another Blackburn team(B. Olympic). So 4 FA cups in a row for Blackburn town.
Aye, one to watch, for sure. I was at the Sunlan Vs ManC game last night and ManC are beatable, if chances are taken; unlike Sunlan, Leicester are not wasting them. A decent game, especially second half, but still going to be hard for Sunlan to stay up. Leicester have mixed riches to draw on, but having such a quality striker is huge for them - he raises the game for them all.
If Leicester manage to win , you can expect most of the prem media to navel gaze and point to a poor season by the rest . They have been the form team for a whole calendar year now . Look at Chelsea's season , rarely do the opposition get the credit ,
Great credit has to go to the owners. Very often foreign owners (Cardiff/Blackburn being a prime examples) get it wrong, but these people seem to have done it in the right way.
I would absolutely love Leicester to win the title, from where they were a year ago it would be truly zero to hero stuff. For those old enough to remember it is Roy of the Rovers stuff, a quality hard working team with a spectacular centre forward.
