I sort of agree but if Leicester win this year it'll feel more like the big boys were **** this year.
I'd rather a team like Spurs or Everton won, that would feel more like the hard work paid off, giving chance to young players and taking punts. Leicester would feel like a total fluke. Because it has come out of nowhere. it wouldn't turn the tide and change the landscape for the future because it's one off. Whereas a win by teams that have often done a good job, consistently but come short and finished 6/7/8th would prove more that their strategy is finally paying off.
You don't win any league, let alone the premier league by fluke.

I read a piece in The Guardian suggesting other clubs in the future might do a Leicester.

But with the improved television deal, suddenly everybody has money. According to the latest Deloitte Report, 17 of the richest 30 clubs in the world are in the Premier League (and that’s before the new TV deal has actually begun). Dimitri Payet will go to West Ham. André Ayew will go to Swansea. Yohan Cabaye will go to Crystal Palace. There is less need for the non-giants to sell, less financial advantage for the best players at the non-giants to move. Given that even with a tendency to stockpile there is a limit to how many players a club can sign, it may be that there is a saturation point, that when everybody is enormously rich, having a little bit more simply doesn’t matter that much. The spread of the bell curve has narrowed.

That's the spirit...

You do to some extent...

it just so happens leicester's form coincides with poor irregular form from the big teams... that's luck. Had this form come up in most previous years it would not be enough.

Leicester are on par for a maximum of 92 but will most likely end on around 75-80pts, that would still require them winning 10 of their last 14.

At this stage of the season, 50 points is the lowest total recorded since 1999 season

And the fluke comment doesn't relate to this year's performance but where they came from. There was no sign of it conceivably happening. That's a freak year not a sign of things changing.

Yes, but how much did their squad cost to assemble, prior to this transfer window, in comparison to ours?

Actually, now they've shipped a couple of their most expensive and poor signings out on loan, they're squad looks remarkable good value...

I seem to recall them comparing the cost of the team Leicester put out the other week with the cost of the team they were playing and it was a ludicrously low figure, about the same as we paid for our star player.

Some might decry it but I wouldn't mind what Leicester have, full stadium with a good atmosphere (though not to some people's taste but better than being sat in a funereal atmosphere surrounded by sit down shut up types), well run with everyone seemingly in harmony. Impressive in a city not much larger than Hull with more competition nearby. All the more impressive when they also have the best supported rugby club of either code getting about as many, often more, than the 2 Hull clubs added together. All in a city where a large proportion of the population are from cultures where football and rugby are not of much interest. (In another post you said there were hardly any Muslims in Leicester. 18.6% are Muslim. That is over 55,000 and would be 48,000 in Hull Hardly a case of hardly any. Also a high proportion of people from other cultures which are not football and rugby places making up virtually 50% of the population there).

...and I know it's a big if, but IF Leicester manage to win the title, then I would suggest it's the best thing EVER to have happened during the Premier League era.

Yes.

However, it also would confirm that the big clubs have massively under achieved this season. On paper Arsenal and Man City should be involved in a 2 horse race for the title.

Leicester City @ Manchester City and then Arsenal. After those 2 games we shall all have a much better idea.

Leicester certainly look a sound bet for a top 4 place though.

No matter how you try to justify your comment, you're still talking nonsense :)

Incredibly good value. Their most expensive signing, Ulloa, has been relatively disappointing, so you could say they've managed it with even less money than this...

Typically inaccurate though as it was a right foot volley.

Fluke? Give over!

Don't think you can fluke the premiership. You can certainly buy it though and Leicester are clearly bucking that trend.

No chance they'll win it unfortunately

****s of man city will win it

Like most neutrals I would really love Leicester to win the title . Them and Bournemouth are a real breathe of fresh air to the PL this season and deserve all the accolades they get. The rise of Bournemouth is also remarkable considering the situation they was in having to win on the final day to avoid relegation to the conference all them years ago. A similar rise to ours & Swansea.

Does anyone know what odds they were for the title at the beginning of the season? Am assuming it would have been 100s if not 1000-1 so as well as the best thing to happen in the Premier League could also be one of the most unlikely. Even a top 4 finish would have been ridiculous odds.
Not sure it was answered but you can go to odds checker , sel ct team and see the historical betting odds ,if that helps

He came in and looked at what fits best. He put round pegs in round holes."

I read this earlier, about how Ranieri pulled it together. Fancy that <laugh>

would love to see them win it, they play with a refreshing brand of football, taking it to the so called `big` clubs, and not standing on reputations, good for them i say, and in Vardy and Mahrez they have 2 match winners who are also prepared to roll up their sleeves and battle for the cause, no billy big bollocks in that team. Long may it continue.
