I don't remember anyone complaining when we signed McLean, although I'm sure there's plenty who now say they did.
I did, when it was because cheap **** Nigel Pearson opted to take him over Charlie Austin so he could save £200k.
Grealish despite his baggage is a quality player. Are Villa even entertaining loaning him to a Championship club?
As no one really knew who the **** he was or had seen him play it was difficult. Once seeing him he was ****. He was **** from first to last.
Isaac Hayden may now stay at City for the rest of the season after a loan move to Fulham fell through. Not sure there's much point, he probably won't get played anyway. Will Aimson is set to turn his loan move at Blackpool into a permanent transfer. Another one gone, good luck Will.
I thought the other player was'nt Austin,it was Smith, both Mclean and Smith were scoring for fun at Peterborough
That's one hell of a deal. I am very surprised Reading have let him go. We should have been all over this like a cheap suit.
It wasn't, it was Craig Mackail-Smith that we allegedly turned down because he was £200k more than McLean. At the same time, Austin moved from Swindon to Burnley for less than we paid for McLean, we were never involved, it was between Burnley and Ipswich.
This illustration highlights our problem in general when signing strikers. We nearly always sign the weaker one.
You're wrong. I remember distinctly we were the first club in for Austin and Swindon rejected our bids. We then went on to sign Aaron McLean for £1.3m and Austin moved to Burnley for £1.5m after rejecting Ipswich I think it was.
It's a club problem, for years we have struggled with signing strikers that score with any level of frequency or consistency.
