Starting most games doesn't stop a player being available for transfer.

Nick Blackman started 25 league games for Reading this season.

Blackman was a player in the final few months of his contract moving to a bigger Championship club.

Gestede is a starter in the Premier League, why the hell would he entertain a move to the Championship? (This is ignoring the fact that he'd cost millions that we haven't got)

Provided we don't lose anybody important, I don't think we will need much else if they play to their best. A midfielder to cover Hayden and some cover at left back. Maybe I striker, not really bothered, we seem to score goals pretty regularly.

I have discounted Villa already. They are so relegated even a miracle won't save them.

A reason maybe to try and get Gestede, a player Bruce was keen on before Villa signed him. He wasn't signed by Garde, maybe Garde wants his own players in for the Championship next season.

imo, Villa were down weeks ago. Yet some on here will still think they can do a Leicester City this season. <laugh>

Even the owner has reportedly given up.

For the next 5 months he's a PL player. Then he'll be a Championship player. If it was an option for a move there's a chance he could be a PL player next season with us, 3rd at the interval with everything to play for. Villa are so far adrift they have no hope.

Garde has already instructed scouts at the club to look at players that will help get Villa back to the PL from the Championship next season.

I was going to say that there might be a chance of getting one of them in on loan but there's no way Derby would do business with us anyway.

It's simply not worth discussing, we wouldn't cough up the fee required last January when we were in the Premier League, we're definitely not going to do it now.

I find it amusing that some posters have claimed that out squad is so strong that we should walk away with the Championship. Some of those posters are now making suggestions as to who we need to buy in order to strengthen our squad! Talk about wanting your cake and eating it! In my view we have a squad that it more than capable of getting us promoted and we are well on track to do that. The problem Bruce has got is the same as in the Summer - holding on to those players with escape clauses. But I maintain that, because we are on track for promotion, those players will think twice before jumping ship to the clubs likely to want them - Newcastle, Villa, Sunderland, Bournemouth etc. Do they want to run the risk of passing us on their way to relegation? The other factor is age and terms of contract (I'm thinking primarily of Davies here). It may well be that money is the overriding objective, in which case, thank you and goodbye if you want more than we can afford to give bearing in mind your age and talent.

About spot on ^^^^^ this. Hayden is staying mind. The owners will spend some cash IF we find the right player. However, even when the transfer window closes we can loan players if we pick up any bad injuries.

Hayden staying is a bonus and he will play on Saturday, imo.

As you say we are doing ok. I feel that M'Boro and Derby are more worried about us hence why they are panic buying sorry spending this month. <laugh><whistle><laugh>

As no one really knew who the **** he was or had seen him play it was difficult.
Once seeing him he was ****. He was **** from first to last.
The point is McLean had scored 67 goals in 148 matches for Peterborough, so he wasn't seen as a dodgy signing at the time and the dual signings of him and Fryatt caused a fair bit of excitement on this board. One or two said they would have preferred Craig Mackail-Smith, but without the luxury of hindsight his signing was seen as positive.

And if Hernandez gets injured?

Very true. However Derby may implode if certain feathers get ruffled. Look what happened to them last season with just 13 games left to go.
