............. she screeched hysterically! Take a chill pill Flinstone, the window's only been open three days, if we're in the same place at the end of it you'll have something to wail about.
I think it will take a lot before anyone has spent as much on their squad at us. Bruce can't piss and moan about budgets and signings, he's spent more than enough as it is to get us out of this division. The players are more than good enough. A bit light up front as it looks, but we've no idea how Diomande will do and it could turn out we're more than fine with him and Hernandez. I'm not saying I don't wish to see any signings, but our squad is already seriously ****ing strong for this division and I don't think there's much we could do to strengthen, I don't think we could really get anyone in any position that is better than what we already have.
I would like to see a centre forward as a minimum. 2 isn't enough, I also think we'd be wise bringing in a centre half we have suffered with injuries and Dawson out has been a big loss. It will also depend greatly on who leaves us in the window. It's not about how much we spent previously, that was to try and stay in the PL, or even the current value of the squad. QPR have demonstrated quite well that an expensively assembled squad does not guarantee results. Their squad value must be not too dissimilar in value to ours. A quality signing will freshen things up, maybe help them kick on for the second half of the season.
Bruce says that Elmohamady’s head has been turned by the rumours linking him with Premier League clubs. "There has been nothing for Elmo (in terms of offers)," he said. "I think, with him in particular, it is affecting him. All this nonsense about he is going here, there and everywhere. “
Derby are trying to hijack Wednesday's deal for Blackman. They were bound to, they can't have anyone else buying a striker...
It’s being reported as a seven figure sum. Usually, that indicates it won’t be much over 1,000,000. **** me. I think he's sort of player who'd make the transition to the Prem like the Watford lads - could not only help seal promotion but save the buying club millions in the summer
Just seen someone claiming it's £12m, I can't see that, he's only got six months left on his deal. If it's only about a million, we should double the offer.
Manchester United have rejected a loan approach from AC Milan for midfielder Marouane Fellaini. please log in to view this image
I might be wrong but it has hallmarks of a cheap deal (if seven figure sum is correct) as it sounds like someone is putting spin on getting mugged. If it was north of 4m – then that’d be quoted I’m sure, not ‘a seven figure sum’. 1m or 2m or even 3m has got to be worth us having a go. The only positive of him going to Sheff Wed would be that it’ll really **** off the Sheff Utd fans.
Leeds United, QPR and Derby County are all interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish on loan.
BREAKING: Steve Bruce interested in taking Bolton's Shola Ameobi on loan until the end of the season.
In I would like to see: Chester on loan Rhodes although think he will be beyond our budget Bamford If we had to pick one player to lose sadly I think it would be Huddlestone
I think you make a very good point, one I have made a number of times, although the discussion was about player interview responses in general. The feeling among some posters, me included, is that players would rather claim ignorance as to why we perform so poorly, as they do not feel able to express their true feelings about poor selection and tactics of the manager. But, of course, that is only a thought, in the absence of any other logical explanation. The question of where Dave and Elmo play, should be, for me, more about which one is played and I would prefer Elmo as he is the more complete RWB. His instructions are taking away his natural quality which should be ripping this league apart. For the record, many Sunderland lads I know thought well of Elmo, McShane and Meyler; just as many Magpies liked Taylor - although it would certainly appear that he has broken down; unsurprising after his injuries, but a bit of a shame for him.
Ryan Taylor got a hell of a response on his return to the Newcastle team after 2 cruciate injuries. They really appreciated the work he'd put in. I'm the same Fez, most Sunderland fans I talk to speak highly of Elmo and Meyler. McShane, it's a little more mixed.
McShane lived just over the road from me and he kept his powder dry on managers, but his late father was a great guy and a tad more outspoken; especially about being used as a RB and not as he thought best, as a CB. Funny old game, hey!
At the start of the window the best players are snapped up by the serious clubs. Midway through the window clubs with no intention of buying are embarrassed into pretending to enter "serious" transfer negotiations. Towards the end of the window we hear the same old bollocks about how clubs won't sell and players won't move until the final day. On the final day it's panic buying time with mediocre and poor players chased like they're superstars. In the last few seconds of the last day the unambitious clubs finally buy or loan the cheap unknown foreigners they always intended to be their solitary acquisitions. Days after the window shuts rumours of huge deals "not quite coming off" abound among the clubs who spent bugger-all.
Wouldn't it be just swell if nobody came in for Austin before the deadline, we won the next 3 at home, went top and then nicked him on deadline day? I'd like to see us go for a couple this window, I'd take somebody like Ambrose at Celtic, big commanding centre half who wouldn't cost a bomb.
I know where you're coming from. Do you remember when we signed Aaron McLean on January 1st 2011 & Liverpool signed Suarez on the 31st?
