That's illogical though.

As the net return is still 20 goals and the reasoning that you'd be too reliant doesn't stack, as if the 10 goal / 10 assist striker is injured then you lose the assists and thus the goals anyway.

1 in 2 PL strikers are worth their weight.......teams that don't have them become reliant on goals coming from other players who aren't natural goalscorers and invariable score less goals....

Look at Leicester at the minute, take the super hot goalscorer out of that side and they'd be midtable or worse. With him they sit at the pinnacle of the table. They wouldn't have been able to substitute those goals with goals from other areas.

I meant not reliant on one person to score all of the goals. To rely on one person to score goals all season is so risky.

And your reference to Vardy is precisely my point - take that one player out, and they're f*cked. Which is why it's crucial to have players who can chip as well.

You propose relying on one person to score and create the goals [HASHTAG]#onemanteam[/HASHTAG]

All the best sides have a striker who slams in circa 20 goals a season, without one you're highly unlikely to be a top side mate.....

So basically, Benteke is doing his job but the rest are not chipping in enough to help?

I usually disagree with Jimmy but I do understand his argument with Benteke I just think that Jimmy takes his point too far. Benteke is a good player who will score a lot of goals and does fit into the team well in certain games. He's not suited to every game the game against City was a good call as the 2 big lumps at the back would have enjoyed the challenge of playing against him but didn't enjoy the movement from Firmino.

There will be games though where bullying the center backs will be needed and Benteke is then our man. I think Firmino is suited to todays game but if plan A doesn't work then the big lad is there to help.
