The Sun are reporting that we will be looking to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter this January. (£35m)

22 year old Argentine forward has scored 40 goals in 80 games for Inter.

I also heard reports that we had a £32m bid rejected in the summer - probably both reports are balls, but seems weird that if we had a £32m bid rejected in the summer, that they'd accept a similar bid halfway through the season...

To be fair sounds like typical Arsene though.
We could do with another DM soo.. lets go buy a striker instead.

Also Wenger rarely adds players to solve an immediate problem. He tends to have a list of targets who he will try and buy if/when they become available.

His comments today give some indication that he may be attempting to add to the squad this January.

"We are in a position where we want to do something," Wenger said at his weekly press conference. "If I find the right quality I will do something."
 
Rumours are that Reus is looking to leave Dortmund this January.

Not exactly a position we are short of number in but this is a guy who can pretty much guarantee you 20+ goals from a wide position.

Would be a ridiculously good forward line. Plus Giroud/Wellbeck can always come in to bring some physicality.

Whole lot of rumours about us scouting Ruben Neves, Porto's DM 'starlet'. Meant to be amazing but I am cynical for 3 reasons. Monies - they reportedly want around £30m. Age - only 18 and can't see Wenger paying that for someone unproven. Jorge Mendes - didn't Arsene say he'd not deal with him or have I made that up/wishful thinking?

Either way we've supposedly sent scouts there for the last few weeks.
 
Crazy rumours are starting to circulate again. We should be going for Carvalho, but they will inflate the price, especially after they know how desperate we've become. That's why you do your business early in summer. Sometimes we never learn.

As you say £30m is a lot for Wenger to spend on a (relatively) unproven 18 year old

All I know is..... he keeps popping up at the top of my search filter on Football Manager 2016 so he must be world class.
 
IMO our biggest priority is a defensive/holding midfielder. The scouting team surely has their targets and there have been too many rumours for me to even guess which is likely. Even if we have to overpay we can't go the 2nd half of the season with Flamini as our main DM. I think it might be another Monreal situation where a summer target is brought in January due to injury forcing our hand.

I hope that is true as it would mean we will get a well scouted player who was a long term target rather than a panic buy who hasn't been properly scouted. But getting a good dm is a must

I've been hearing a lot about this Neves guy, even AW said he'd deal with Mendes if he has to. Seems like a good long term option but is he good enough now? Who knows... Just hope we get the transfer business done ASAP as a whole month of transfer agony sounds unpalatable.

I peeped it too. I was like Whoa!!!

I feel very stupid for questioning his ability to prosper int the Premier League. I love being made a fool of by our players. I hurts even more as Ozil has been one of my favorite players in the game. Watched him as a young boy saw how special he was. I was on an Arsenal boycott - no Arsenal presents, not spending a penny on the club. As soon as his signature was announced I was on the 1st plane to the Emirates to watch him against Stoke. For me to then turn around and doubt the guy, I feel ashamed
