What are you talking about? M'Villa already plays for us. His assist from the freekick to Giroud on Saturday was top class <ok>

Wanyama anyone? Personally think he would give us something different. Would be good to add a big physical midfielder to our squad.

The 'Torygraph' are claiming that we have agreed to sign Alexander Kokorin for a fee of £4.3 Million.

Seems like a good bit of business for a versatile 24 years old striker.

Not that I'm one to be dismissing any squad additions,. but do we need another striker that will make up the numbers? If anything, we need midfielder. Getting another striker that wouldn't be an improvement from our current lot, would be a bit pointless. We already have Giroud, Walcott and Campbell and I doubt he would be better than any of these lot.

Not if we're talking about a versatile DM/CD then we're talking!

I'd rather we go for a big named striker in the summer than one in January. A DM is imperative right now. At the end of the season, a lot of factors will determine whether or not Arsenal go in for a striker:

    Giroud and Walcott's form.

    Akpom's loan spell.

The Euros may unearth potential talent.

Any striker worth his salt will not leave for a fair price in January and will be highly unlikely to be allowed to go.

I agree with you on this one. I think if we have Giroud and Walcott fit for the majority, then they can score enough goals between them in the CF role, then they can keep us ticking along. Getting a top striker should be done in summer. But the DM issue is a big one and an area where we will drop points in. This is the one area that can help maintain our momentum in the league.

    Controversial one ....

First, as you can recall we made arteta a deep playmaker. At his prime he did a decent job. Dictated the play and was key for us for a while. Carzola then brought it to the next level because he can do what arteta can but with both feet. Also get us out of really tight situations (which is key against top teams when we defend).

I suspect Carzola will soon walk the path like arteta. And the chance is significant higher after a big injury.

Having said all this, here is my controversial proposal of carzola ... And that man would be Isco!

This is all assuming winger wants a deep playmaker.

He is available and won't be after Rafa gets fired from Madrid!

Here's an article on it, but no direct quotes just a link to a Sun article saying Isco wants out from Real and 2 added to 2.

Would be great if we could get him, would add some real quality and versatility to the team.

Quality player and would certainly add quality and much needed bodies in midfield. But alas I can't see this happening when we have Wilshere and Ramsey technically vying for the CM spot. The only real spot available is the DM spot, and once we offload the excess this summer, we should be getting one in, unless Wenger decides on blooding someone new amongst the ranks.

Like you I can see it more likely that Wenger would bring in cover for the DM spot rather than another playmaker - deep lying or otherwise. It's more what we need and isn't likely to upset the balance of the squad either. While Isco would be a replacement for Santi who should have 2 seasons left at least, while Arteta and Flamini have 5 months left and need to be replaced while Coq needs out and out competition.

Wenger tends to buy what he "wants" rather than what he "needs". So one never knows.

But I'm also hoping for a DMF.

So it looks like the Kokorin deal has actually been agreed.

Hopefully we will be adding a DM too.

Anyone ACTUALLY know anything about Kokorin (Youtube clips don't count). What should we expect from him?

As much as I appreciate what the guy has done and the quality of management he brings, I'm still concerned that he'd not stay for the long haul, We pride ourselves generally on having stability on the manager front and the question is, as good as Pep is, do we want he for just 2 - 3 years?

I worry more that it is the era of football we live in, where you don't see managers around long term. Maybe he comes and falls in love with the club like I did as a fan (Kanu was my childhood hero. Moved to Arsenal and I fell in love with the club) lol.
