If you're going to have a go at someone's ability to pay attention, probably best to actually name a midfielder who still plays for us...
Ha no I don't pay attention to your tinpot league. Come on then, which three world class midfielders that you have would walk straight in to our team?
The league you've spent most of the last decade in, including one season in the league below. Right... I never said any of our midfielders would walk straight into your team. I happen to think Drinkwater is a decent player and you looked a much stronger side after he came on. If I have to answer the question then I would say Diame, when he applies himself, would get in 3/4 of the Premier League's starting XI's. Sadly, he seems like he can't be arsed most of the time, but in terms of ability and technique, he's very good. Probably could have kept us up on his own had he not been injured almost all of last season.
Yes, I don't pay attention to a lower league that we used to be in... Why would I!? Did you still follow League Two? It was Fettis who said that your midfielders are better than Drinkwater. If he says one of them is Meyler, I may just wet myself. Fair play to you though, at least you can acknowledge a good player when you see one
I don't know, I thought you might have an interest in football or something... I do indeed. I know, I never said I agreed with him. I'd say Diame was a better player technically, as is Huddlestone, but (the latter at least) offers nowhere near as much to the team on a consistent basis. Technically Meyler isn't up to much, takes a good penalty mind...
Nah, I can't agree with you. A club like Hull has ambitions/prospects to be in the Premier League, a club like ours has ambitions/prospects of Europe. Therein lies the difference between us. It sounds big headed but you're just not on our level. What makes you think we're "clearly playing ahead of ourselves"? I'd say that we have excellent depth, it's what held us back last year. The other night was an off night and has been described by many Leicester fans as our worst performance for months, to yours it's been described as your best team performance since you beat Fulham 6-0. Go figure.
Out of interest, when was the last time you played in a European competition? Because you spent most of last season bottom of the league, you ended up just above the relegation zone and now you're fifth. Go figure. If your reserves can't beat the reserves of a team who are 'slumming' it in the Championship, maybe they're not as good as you think.
Every West Ham fan I know agrees. And I'm sure most Wigan fans would too if they had any. But no, you're right, I'm sure a Leicester WUM knows more...
1) 2001. 2) We were at the bottom for most of the season til something clicked and performances were beginning to be rewarded with results. We then finished 14th and 4 points above the relegation zone. Since March we've lost twice (to Arsenal and Chelsea having taken the lead in both of those games) and have taken 41 points from a possible 57. We're 5th in the league because we deserve to be. There has been no luck about it, we're getting the results our performances deserve. It comes across as bitterness to say that we're overperforming and will til off. You want that to happen because you're jealous. 3) The reserves to our reserves (we still missed Dyer, Schlupp, Ulloa and James) couldn't beat Hull's reserves, you're not wrong. But you are wrong to base your idea on one game. I've seen plenty of evidence to suggest that they're very capable. In fact, had we decided to play Schmeichel then I think we'd have won, seeing as Schwarzer was on a mission to concede as many as possible.
Go on, name 15 teams that he'd walk staight into then. Seeing as you're so sure. I know for a fact he wouldn't get near ours, West Ham obviously weren't too keen to keep a top midfielder as they flogged him for tuppance. He's obviously not Champions League material so that discounts Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal. I'd say he's not good enough for a side seriously pushing for the Europa league so discount Liverpool, Spurs, Palace and Southampton. That's half the league without having to think about it.
Just out of interest, how many enquiries did you get from Premier League clubs for Diame over the summer?
Point number 2 really cracked me up. 1) So 14 years ago. Although we were playing in Europe last season. Yet your aims are European football and ours are relegation scraps? Looks like someone didn't get the memo. 2) Almost all of what you have said here is bollocks. Firstly, I never said you didn't deserve to be fifth. Secondly, I never said you've been lucky. Thirdly, I'm not bitter or jealous. You come across as very precious AKCJ. I congratulated you on your great escape and I've congratulated you on your good start. You're over performing because you're doing better than teams with much better squads. That's not to say you've been lucky or don't deserve to be there. 3) Okay, the reserves to our reserves, we still missed Snodgrass, Diomande, Davies... (it's easily done). Do you really think that? Out of interest, did you go to the game?
It was never me who used the phrase 'walk into' or any such language. I said technically Diame is good enough to get in 3/4 of the teams in the league. The likes of Real and Barca were sniffing before he suffered a nasty injury at Rayo Vallecano. Injuries have been a major problem for him, as has supposedly been his attitude. Kenny Dalglish wanted to sign him whilst he was at Liverpool and Diame fell out with a lot of people at West Ham by saying he was keen to make that move. I suspect you haven't seen much of the lad play. If you don't think he's very good then that's fine by me. You also don't rate Harry Kane though so I'll take your opinion with a pinch of salt.
1) You're in the Championship and we're 5th in the league above, Looks like someone's been in a coma for 12 months. 2) Name these squads. Chelsea, Southampton, Liverpool and Spurs? That still puts us 9th. I'd also say that those teams are underperforming. We're playing at our level, the rest can't seem to match it. 3) No, I wasn't there. I've been to Hull and I really don't have any desire to revisit. Watch our reserves play Hull on a Tuesday night in October or go out and have a fantastic meal with my colleagues? It wasn't a tough choice. I have seen the shambolic goalkeeping that Schwarzer produced though.
He was injured throughout the entire summer transfer window and almost all of last season. He played his first game 4 days before Deadline Day, in which Villa apparently made an enquiry. Most teams don't like buying injured players, and for good reason too.
Remember Hull also have a tremendous owners too . On a par with Fawaz at Forest!!! I suppose they wouldn't swap them either for our wonderful owners. Deluded.
"Apparently" .... (if VIlla didnt evn follow through with a bid then he must be ****e!!) So in answer to your question Jack...... NO ONE DID! not surprisingly.
Hull qualified for Europe by finishing runners up in a cup competition, just like Millwall and Wigan before them. It's completely different to earning qualifying for Europe through your league finish. The chances of a team like Hull doing that are slim to none. Whilst it's unlikely that we'll do it this season, we do have the owners, infrastructure and fan-base to one day challenge the likes of Stoke, Southampton and Swansea, and survive in the Premier League on a consistent basis. Which is more than Hull could ever hope for. I agree with AKCJ, as I did make this point earlier... Our prospects are entirely different
