Leadership is what's required. All top teams are managed by great leaders, regardless of their football pedigree.

This. If Gerrard sensed it as dos others why did they not take matters into their own hands. Once you cross the White line, the players are responsible not there manager. The players didn't have to go gung ho and Gerrard as captain could have helped dictate the tempo of the game.
