I would be seriously surprised if he was a Spurs player come close of the window. Spurs have left it way too late to poach the second half of our defensive megashield, and I imagine we based our Morgan replacement(s) on their compatability with Vic. Align to that we have the upper hand due to his contract, so Levy will never meet his valuation. We'd be stupid strategically - no matter what the money - to give you both Toby (he wasn't ours, I know) and Vic, and for me that would really send a message that we are a player development club above all else. You can't hand your entire (near enough PL-best) defence (bar two) to other teams, including two key players to the same team. Spurs are probably aware that you're probably just destabilising Vic for a second attempt next year, at which point you will get him (unless he actually improves his stock to get a more glamorous suitor). Think this is just groundwork. Again we look like being rivals too - albeit at the wrong end of the division!
