Who was the spearhead if you don't mind my asking?

It really varied fella. Dick rotated his front three around him, he occationally played deeper too played in midfield too. Here's some examples though, let you know which slot he'd be filling. Edit, put the same one in twice but you still get the point. :p

PSV were prolific that season btw even if Toivonen was injured for a big part. Looked into him a lot at the start of the season as I was sure he'd be a target.

And here I was expecting a 1 word answer :emoticon-0102-bigsm - top work fella.

I think he might be a gem of a find. Got a good gut feeling about this one.

By the looks of it he plays behind the forward - in the position infront of Catts & M'Vila. Could well be a replacement for De Guzman if that one's gone South (in more ways than one).

So he never spear heads the attack then? Interesting
We certainly need a link up man to shift the ball about

Cheers fella. He should be cheap as chips, will solve am problem, he knows Dick, He knows his tactics, what Dick expects from him and he knows Lens movement very well. Will he have the same affect in the premier league? That remains to be seen, should he settle quickly? Should do. I think it would be a good safe signing given the clock is now against us. I wanted better but that ship has sailed well and truly. <laugh>

It would mean the De Guzzman deal is off however.

No mate, Nobody ever truely spearheads and Advocaat's attack, they don't stay their long enough, he rotates the front three throughout games as we've seen This lad is Attacking Mid/Support striker.

This guy could be a real fans favourite, he's a neat player and has goals in him, but he works hard also, he's got enough height on him to cause problems for most defenders, although he lacks a bit in strength. Wickham out and him in, is nothing short of a masterstroke.

Agreed. He'd do nicely for next few seasons. I was just craving that big money talented younger option with years ahead of him and resale value. But you won't find me complaining with this. Solid as **** signing if this comes off.

He's got some nice control and touch on him, he did start as a striker I believe but wasn't prolific and gradually dropped deeper.

The only negative I recall is he did used to throw himself on the floor a lot, hopefully he's gone beyond that now

I'd say he was like a Steven Naismith mate, not in style but in the type of asset he is, invaluable yet unflattering, won't sell many shirts unlike Lens/Yann Da Man, definitely an asset though.

Absolutely. I was shouting for us to sign Naismith a few seasons back. He would have been a very realistic target at the time and one I don't doubt would have been a massive success, but then he had the season of his life putting him well out of reach, he progressed and we moved backwards. Love these types of players. We really lack an attacking player like that too. Pure grafter who'll bring it together. I'd take Johnathan Walters too. Very unflattering but a fantastic asset. You can build a team's back bone through these sorts of assets. We're spineless.

I was gonna say Walters/Naismith <ok>

Exactly what you need mate, 100% agree.

Anyhow - back to the OP now that the @Funky Dick love in is over!

I heard a lot of talk about Toivonen earlier in the window then nothing for ages and now this - although can;t find anything official but not a bad signing apparently if we make it
