Same with the Walcott is leaving stories a few years ago, and the Higuain and Draxler are coming in stories. TBH I remember almost every season since 1998 loads of stories about Viera leaving, Henry leaving ect but none of them were true (at least not in 1998,1999,2000,2001). It's best to ignore them until you hear something from either a) the club, or a b) a credible source, perhaps the selling clubs manager, or the player themselves...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...sfer-window-Karim-Benzema-talk-continues.html 'When the season starts the window should be finished.' Wenger told reporters at his press conference on Friday. He added: 'Simple as that. It is too big an advantage for clubs that didn't work well during the transfer window. 'The funds are there, people know that you have the resources, but the players are not available. 'We expect, like you, to make another signing. But at the moment, we are not close.'
Don't quite know what Wenger is after if anyone at all. There have been a number of class players who have moved in this window but we seem to be watching from the sidelines.
We've already had the likes of Gervinho thank you! Come to think about it, surprised your lot didn't come in for him....
I saw a good point on Twitter the other day about us trying to sign this world class CF, we all want and the point was about how all these world class CF's play for clubs that are just richer than us, and those clubs have no need to sell these players, shame that Madrid did not opt to buy an expensive attacking player this year because that would have given us the chance to sign Benzema.
When you are talking about the worlds beat players moving between the top ten clubs I don't think it's all down to money. You would (I presume) like Benzema (I would love him at OT), but if Madrid sell him who do they get that is better, Lewandowski? then who do Bayern get? Unfortunately once you reach a certain level there are only a few players who can improve your team and most of them are already in place at clubs of similar standing.
Agree This is why it's difficult to sign a top class CF unless, as Sanj says, the club you're buying him from have already gone out and bought an even more coverted and expensive striker.
In spite of all the gossip Wenger has said that we are nowhere near any new signings. I was certainly hoping for either a striker or midfield enforcer or both. Maybe next year, maybe never.
That doesn't mean anything. Remember when he denied knowing who Santi Carzorla was when being grilled on the transfer? He also wasn't after anymore 'attacking players' when we signed Ozil. Its clear from his comments that he isn't after any wide players but a CF is on the cards if he can get a Top quality one. I think Benzema will be a realistic option IF Madrid put a bid in for Reus.
Also the comments about us not being close to a signing came directly after him saying the club expects to make a signing! It's all just smoke and mirrors!
I can understand if we can't get a top world class CF, but a DM should be realistic. If that Polish lad is top draw then we should get him in. I don't fancy any of our DM back ups and Coqs won't last for an entire season.
Totally agree - would be really good competition between him and coq. And knowing us we will have ozil, santi and ramsey all out injured at the sametime so we can play both together! Lol
