Rodney Marsh (ex Man City for our younger members ) said on the Sportsbar programme on TalkSport tonight that he understands that Real Madrid have accepted a £48 million from Arsenal for Benzena.
how would he be ITK ? Rodney is just rehashing paper talk•. *the latest being is that Cavani is on his way this week
Heres hoping we will still get a proven frontman before the window closes. I think Depay showed last night in the Man U victory the difference a class striker can make.
Media tapping into the desperation of the fans. Best not to feed the troll free web clicks. Unfortunately we can't help feeding those lying fckers!
The Telegraph keep on reporting this Benzema rumour and recently have been saying our £48m bid has been accepted by Real. They even went out their way to.update their time stamp in the morning. Others have been joining on the bandwagon but they seem to be leading in it and they are supposed to be a well respected newspaper.
The question is, where did this info originate, as if the Telegraph got it from an agent/trusted source then it looks very good, if (as the case for lots of rumours) they got it from another paper, who got it from another blog, who got it from a ITK, then it's prob balls!
Plus, in todays day and age with such tight budgets, reduced amounts of staff/journalists/time and tight turn arounds then most papers print internet rumours (many contradictory) just to get something out and look like they're ahead of their rivals!
Ha, I just seen a supposed copy of Rodney Marsh' quote about the Benzema transfer. Not only did he do it through TalkSport, but it is apparently that Rodney's mate of his told him that he believes something... It's hardly an airtight endorsement!
That's what annoys me. There is close to no regulations governing the kind of bullsh1t that emanates from newspapers. They should at least provide some suitable proof before printing/posting. "My mate told me" rumour isn't good enough, especially from a so called well respected newspaper.
That's one of the areas the Leveson recommendations were supposed to address, before it was quietly dropped due to pressure from the press and government, and then greater freedom was given to the press instead. I mean look at all the ridiculous stuff printed about Jeremy Corbyn, and the sustained propaganda campaign against him by all of the national newspapers. It is ridiculous in footballing terms how a newspaper will see a twitter post from a ITK, or a vague reference (or worse a Talksport article!) and then create a huge article off it, then other newspapers, instead of doing any digging or work, will just recreate or reference the 1st BS article and keep snowballing the BS, until us poor saps are convinced a major signing is just around the corner - while the papers are printing contradictory article at the same time. I mean if all the articles were true we'd have a strike force of Benzema, Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Giroud, Welbeck, Higuain, Walcott, Aubameyang! True that is one hell of a strikeforce, and certainly will get you goals, but it's fantasy land for Football Manager players, let alone the real world!
With City signing Otamendi and rumoured to be signing De Bruyne and Chelsea signing Pedro and seemingly hellbent on getting Stones, the gap that we thought we'd closed is being stretched again. I feel if we don't improve our squad now, we're gonna get left behind again.
Everyone making signings, and we're doing nothing.......Hope that changes before the transfer window closes, because if we only sign one player in this window, I am going to be severely pissed off at yet another summer gone by without us making the needed signings and just sitting on our asses. There are no excuses anymore as well, we have money, so let's start ****ing spending some of it. The first 2 games of the season have also shown we are still in need of some quality signings, so it's not a case of oh we don't need to sign, we clearly ****ing do.
In all seriousness how do you bring in regulations about football transfer rumours ? If David Ornstein of the BBC was to write about Benzema on his way to Arsenal a lot of of our fans would lap it up as they believe Ornstein to be the font of all knowledge when it comes to Arsenal transfers even though he's just another sports journalist who knows no more about Arsenal than any tabloid hack
