If a trust is robust, it should welcome constructive criticism and open encourage open debate. The fans it claims to represent should also welcome that. The alternative is being satisfied to live with the agenda of a relatively faceless and unaccountable committee.

I agree, whining should be kept in the background. Obviously, if rather than just whining about another poster, someone has an opinion on the actions of a group claiming to represent them, then that's as well to be in a public forum.
 
I rarely comment on these sorts of threads as they always end up as petty argument contests which I cannot be arsed with. However if this hipflask message was posted publicly then I do not agree with it. I am a member of the Trust and support everything they are trying to achieve. But doing something like that seems rather pointless and counter-productive, regardless of the personal opinions of Trust members, or if what Allam did and said is perceived as worse.

Have you actually sent any views via email to The Trust? I have.

The Trust do represent me. I'm happy with that. They could do better in parts but so could the majority of organisations. Bearing in mind they are volunteers with full time carears I think the job they do is exceptional.

If you don't think they're fit for task then challenge them. Put yourself forward, volunteer. Offer to join the committee. There's lots of options open to you.

I fully agree, and the fact that Mark Gretton, the owner of the offending article, is still the chairman of HCST will not inspire any confidence in the trust, either from prospective members or the Allam family.

Why do I need to do any of that (I may or may not have done some or all)

The trust are claiming to represent me, they should be happy to discuss issues in an open forum. I prefer to think that a representative group facilitates discussion. Ideas are put forward and expanded upon. That to me is far superior to some secretive arrangement where people send notes for a faceless group to decide upon and then claim it's representation. To me, THAT is boring and bollocks.

You reckon you know what to expect, so it should be easy enough to ignore.

What happened to the people that were pushing CTWD? Are you looking to try to coax them back on board? They seemed to be pretty good at getting peoples views and opinions.

Oh there is. Quite a few of the people involved back then were less dismissive of discussion and more open to ideas. I don't think they saw themselves as above the rest.

I guess from that they're not getting involved this time. There's a shame.
