Signing Alonso would be an absolute no brainer for me, we already know he can do the job, the relationship is already there with the fans and the club and I believe he can play CB too so would be vital cover. I haven't seen him at CB but I reckon he'd be pretty good. Really hoping there's truth in this.

I agree we were rubbish - but what do you class as "recent memory" as I remember capitulation against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa last season that were both at least as bad as Saturday! Does he not remember those games?
